New to Grow
Hello! I am Myra Harris, MSW, LCSW, ADHD-CCSP. I am passionate about helping people navigate life's challenges while discovering their own strengths and resilience. Since graduating in 2012, I' ve worked in community mental health, gerontology, and school based social work, supporting individuals through a wide range of experiences. I strive to create a warm, safe, and judgement-free space where you can be yourself, feel heard, and openly share what is on your mind. My approach is rooted in empathy, authenticity, and genuine connection, and I feel honored to walk alongside my clients as they work toward healing, Growth, and reaching their full potential while utilizing evidenced based therapy approaches to help guide therapy goals.
During our first session together I will walk you through the intake process. We will go over questions that help me get to know you and better understand your background and what led you to therapy and your personal therapy goals. I will meet you where you are and provide a listening ear. I will ask thoughtful questions so I can better understand your experiences. barriers, strenghts, and goals. This will help us come up with a starting point and a plan as we begin your therapy journey together.
One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is the life experience I bring into the therapy room. While my professional training and years of experience are invaluable, I am also someone who understands that life can be complicated, painful, and unpredictable. I am no stranger to life's challenges. Growing up, things were not always easy, and those experiences helped shape my resilience, compassion, and understanding of what if feels like to struggle but also overcome. Throughout my life, I have experienced significant losses, including the loss of family and friends. More recently, my family navigated the heartbreaking loss of my 7 year old son's best friend in a tragic accident. These experiences have deepened my understanding of grief, healing, and the many emotions that come with life's most difficult moments. While therapy is always focused on the clien'ts story rather than my own, these experiences allow me to sit with people in their pain with genuine empathy. Clients often tell me they feel comfortable opening up because they sense that I am authentic, relatable, and accepting. I believe my personal experiences help create a safe space where people feel seen, understood, and less alone in what they are facing. I strive to meet each person where they are, offering support, compassion, and hope while helping them recognize their own strengths and ability to grow through life's challenges. My approach can be subtle but also willing and able to hold clients accountable in a respectful way.
I am best positioned to serve clients who are willing to be open and willing to try therapeutic techniques to help better their quality of life. I have worked with a variety of age groups and backgrounds. Some of my experience includes working with kids and families along with people who struggle with substance abuse and the loved ones of people who struggle with addiction. I also work well with women who have experienced infertility issues and also navigating life as a new or seasoned mother. I am a mom to 3 children and understand firsthand that parenting brings iit's own unique challenges. Working through your own worries, responsibilities, and emotions while also caring for and guiding children is an adventure in itself that I would love to help and support my clients through. I also have experience in working with children with ADHD and helping their families.
