David McAnallen

LP (he/him)35 years of experience

Psychologist with 35+ years of clinical experience working with individuals, couples, and families. My approach is strength based, integrative, and results oriented, drawing from evidence based therapies including cognitive behavioral therapy, EMDR, EFT, and solution focus therapy. Specialties include anxiety, depression, trauma, couples, as well as high achieving people who feel stuck (career, finances, relationships), are searching to grow and expand. In our sessions, we won't just talk about the past - we actively untangle the patterns holding you in place. My approach can address negative limiting core beliefs, past traumas, an overactive mind, regulating negative emotional states, and enhancing a greater sense of ease, wellness, abundance, health, and personal fulfillment. This can include principles of energy and law of attraction. Approach incorporates holistic and mindfulness based practices, integrating mind-heart- body connection, emerging neuroscience, and principles of intentional awareness. You can expect consultative questions on how you feel things are progressing (we are a team), homework as well as podcast material which would be complimentary.

First session

Within the initial appointment there should be a sense of validation and understanding of the presenting issue as well as answering any questions that you may have. My approach is highly collaborative as well as being supportively direct. The first appointment is centering upon establishing a sense of connection and to decide whether I am a good fit or not, providing an assessment as needed, and then moving forward. You should feel you are in good hands and something good can come from this.

Strengths

I have grown considerably by being open. I find that I attract people who are ready and searching for something more. I can support, challenge, and push. We work upon toning down negative-particularly beliefs and thoughts which create similar outcomes.

Ideal clients

We all want to grow and expand. Examples can include an anxious achiever, professional or student dealing with perfectionism, stress, and high functioning anxiety. Another can include the healing survivor as examples of working individuals working through childhood trauma post traumatic stress disorder, or painful past experiences, Other examples can include transitioning adults such as people navigating major shifts such as divorce, grief, career changes or identity exploration. Working with couples can include partners who are stuck in negative communication cycles.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Thoughts and thinking have a direct correlation to what we experience as well as what we create. I like to use "CBT on steroids" to include energy work, law of attraction, as well as EMDR and EFT. The combined approach can be highly effective.
