I treat many different psychiatric disorders with medication and supportive therapy. I have been trained in child and adolescent psychiatry and have experience treating students in various settings When someone is struggling academically whether in high school or college and graduate school, the mood and anxiety can come out as well due to the negative feelings that occur and the low self-esteem of doing poorly academically. the poor academic performance may have started in child hood and progressed into adulthood. there can develop feelings of inadequacy and poor self-esteem as they progress through the school now.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

You can expect a comprehensive and in-depth conversation. I aim to get to know you better by asking questions about your past experiences and current challenges. This session is typically the longest, as I work to understand the symptoms and issues causing you distress and how they affect your daily life. My goal is to develop a diagnostic evaluation and treatment plan tailored to your needs, which may include medication recommendations. I understand that answering these questions can be difficult, so I strive to create a supportive and empathetic environment. Please know that there are no off-limit topics, and everything we discuss will remain strictly confidential. The only exception is if you ask me to share information with your employer or school, which I can do to help secure any necessary accommodations. Your comfort and trust are my top priorities.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

One of my key strengths as a provider is my extensive experience with psychiatric medications. I have a deep understanding of how these medications work, their effectiveness, and the nuances of each one, including typical reactions and side effects. I prioritize conveying this information to patients in an empathetic and supportive way, encouraging them to ask questions. My goal is for patients to leave with a clear understanding of their treatment and feel comfortable reaching out to me via email with any further questions that arise before our next appointment in about a month.

My treatment methods

Supportive

"With my training as a psychiatrist specializing in children, adolescents, and adults, I emphasize medication management for various psychiatric disorders. My goal is to create an open and supportive environment, ensuring that patients achieve the best possible outcomes with their treatment options. I encourage patients to be as candid as possible, and I strive to respond with empathy and a nonjudgmental attitude toward the issues they present. This collaborative approach fosters trust and enhances the therapeutic relationship."

Psychoeducation

"I dedicate a significant amount of time to providing patients with comprehensive information about the medications I recommend, including various options available to them. I value a collaborative approach, working closely with patients to make informed decisions when choosing and adjusting their medications. This partnership not only empowers patients but also fosters a deeper understanding of their treatment journey."

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

As an Asian American with immigrant parents, I recognize the challenges that arise when working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, particularly those facing emotional difficulties. Understanding a person’s cultural roots is crucial, especially regarding mental wellness. Certain beliefs and behaviors may not be recognized as mental health issues, and individuals may feel uncomfortable discussing these matters with someone from a different culture. I strive to embrace multiculturalism in psychiatry, appreciating the unique family dynamics and societal structures within each culture. By understanding each patient's cultural background, I can better inform my diagnosis and treatment of various psychiatric disorders.
