New to Grow
I’m Dr. David Johnson, a licensed clinical mental health therapist, Psy.D., Master Level Certified Addiction Professional, and trained pastor and chaplain. For more than 30 years, I’ve had the privilege of helping individuals, couples, teens, and families find healing through evidence‑based care, with the option to integrate faith for those who desire it. My career has taken me from youth services to dual‑diagnosis treatment, to serving homeless veterans, and into leadership roles as a program director and adjunct counseling professor. I also supervise interns pursuing LMHC, Marriage and Family Therapy, and addiction credentials.
In our first session, you can expect a warm, calm, and welcoming environment focused on understanding your story. I take time to learn about your concerns, history, and goals so we can create a clear, personalized plan for therapy. My goal is for you to leave that first meeting with a sense of clarity, direction, and confidence as you begin your journey toward healing, stability, and meaningful growth.
I specialize in sexual and substance addiction recovery, trauma‑informed care, couples counseling, and family therapy. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in proven clinical practices. I work hard to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their challenges, gain insight, and build practical tools for long‑term well‑being. When appropriate, I’m able to integrate biblical principles with clinical strategies to support clients who want their faith included in the healing process.
Motivated clients bring a readiness for change that deeply enhances the therapeutic process. When someone is willing to show up with openness and curiosity, therapy becomes more collaborative, focused, and effective. Motivation doesn’t mean having everything figured out, it simply means being willing to explore, reflect, and try new approaches. Working with clients who are engaged in their own growth allows the work to move forward with clarity and purpose, creating space for deeper insight, meaningful breakthroughs, and lasting change.
Christian Counseling
If desired, integrating your faith into therapy is one of the best ways I believe you can tackle mental health issues. My goal is to bring you closer to God and figure out core issues in your life.

With his background in the military and police force he brings real life experiences to help the sessions be more relatable

Bringing two people together is no easy task, there is no shame in having a middleman to help get you all on the same page. Whether it is communication, parenting, intimacy or finances, I am here to help!
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Our thoughts eventually determine our behavior. We will work on targeting negative thought patterns
Family Therapy
Healthy families are essential to a well-functioning home, community, nation and world. If families can learn to work together and resolve conflict and trauma, the better they will be.
