New to Grow
Hi! I’m Ana-Lisa, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who works with adults, teens, and couples navigating anxiety, ADHD, relationship challenges, life transitions, stress, and feeling overwhelmed. I believe therapy should be a place where you can show up exactly as you are without feeling judged or pressured to have everything figured out. My approach is warm, down-to-earth, and collaborative, and together we’ll work toward meaningful changes that fit your life!
Our first session is really about getting to know each other! I’ll spend time getting to know you, hearing your story, and understanding what brings you to therapy. We’ll go through an initial assessment together so I can learn more about what you’ve been experiencing, what’s important to you, and how I can best support you. We’ll also start talking about your goals and what you hope to get out of therapy. My goal is for you to leave our first session feeling heard, understood, and comfortable moving forward together.
I bring a warm, genuine, and down to earth approach to therapy. My own life experiences have taught me that life can be messy, unexpected, and overwhelming at times, and I bring that understanding into the way I connect with my clients. I want our sessions to feel safe and comfortable, where you can be yourself and feel heard without judgment. I’m not a therapist who will simply sit back and listen the entire session. I’ll listen and support you, but I’ll also ask questions, offer different perspectives, and gently challenge you when I think it can help you grow. Most importantly, I’ll meet you where you are and work alongside you to find tools and changes that make sense for your life!
My ideal client is someone who may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, or simply unsure of what to do next. You might be struggling with anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, past experiences, relationships, life transitions, stress, self esteem, or feeling like you’re carrying too much at once. You don’t have to come to therapy knowing exactly what you want to change. I enjoy working with clients who are open to exploring what’s going on, better understanding themselves, and taking meaningful steps toward feeling more confident, connected, and in control of their lives.
I use CBT to help you understand how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are connected. Together, we’ll identify thought patterns that may be contributing to anxiety, stress, low self esteem, or feeling stuck. We’ll work on challenging unhelpful thinking, developing healthier perspectives, and building practical coping skills you can use in your everyday life.
I use ACT to help you better understand and make space for difficult thoughts and emotions rather than feeling like you have to fight or avoid them. Together, we’ll explore what matters most to you, identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and work toward choices and actions that align with your values and the life you want to build.
I use DBT skills to help you better understand and manage intense emotions, cope with stressful situations, improve communication, and build healthier relationships. We may work on mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal skills based on what you’re experiencing. My goal is to help you develop practical tools you can use both during difficult moments and in your everyday life.
I use mindfulness to help you slow down, become more aware of your thoughts and emotions, and feel more present in your everyday life. We may practice grounding, breathing, and other mindfulness skills to help you manage anxiety, stress, overwhelming emotions, and difficult thoughts. The goal is to help you respond to what you’re experiencing rather than feeling controlled by it.
I use Motivational Interviewing to help you explore what you want to change while understanding what may be making change difficult. Instead of telling you what you should do, we’ll work together to identify your own goals, strengths, and motivation. This approach can be especially helpful when you’re feeling stuck, uncertain, or ready for something to change but aren’t sure where to begin.
