I'm Bertine Luzincourt, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in Palm Beach County, Florida. I provide personalized mental health care, including psychotherapy, lifestyle recommendations, and medication management, for clients of all ages. With a compassionate, holistic approach, I focus on helping individuals achieve mental wellness and improve their quality of life. My goal is to empower clients to manage their mental health effectively, improve their overall well-being, and achieve lasting positive outcomes.
In the first session, clients can expect a comfortable, welcoming environment where we'll discuss their mental health concerns, medical history, and goals for treatment. I’ll conduct a thorough assessment, which may include questions about symptoms, lifestyle, and any past treatments. Together, we'll create an individualized plan that focuses on their unique needs and well-being.

I am best positioned to serve clients of all ages who are dealing with a range of mental health challenges, such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD or substance use. I excel at working with individuals seeking a compassionate, holistic approach to care, and I am especially effective with clients who value personalized treatment plans and clear, culturally sensitive communication.
I treat insomnia in my clinic with CBT-i, or cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia, which is an efficient non-pharmacological method. I start by evaluating the patient's sleep habits and teaching them good sleeping practices. The two main methods are stimuli control, which helps the patient connect the bed solely with sleep, and sleep restriction treatment, which limits the patient's time in bed to consolidate sleep. Also, I use cognitive restructuring to combat negative ideas about sleeping. Deep breathing exercises or mindfulness is another method I use, which can be use before bed to help feel less anxious. These methods help promote patients' good sleep hygiene by reversing the progression of insomnia and improve the quality of their sleep.
I use a client-centered counseling technique known as motivational interviewing (MI) to assist them change their behavior as in the cases of hesitant or indifferent patients. MI is actually engaging in a nonjudging conversation with the patient allowing them to discuss their own reasons for wanting to get better. Mostly I utilize open-ended questions, careful listening, and encouraging their strengths to help people investigate their motivations. Using "change talk" strategies helps the patient to identify and overcome ambivalence, therefore enhancing their will to bring about positive changes. This cooperative approach increases treatment plan adherence and leads in general better health by enabling patients to take responsibility of their care.
Mindfulness-based treatment guides patients in managing stress, anxiety, and other mental health problems by promoting present-moment awareness and emotional control. I actually lead patients in mindfulness exercises including body scans, guided meditation, and breathing methods, helping them to observe their ideas and feelings free from judgment. This method encourages self-awareness, therefore enabling patients to stop habitual negative thinking and rumination cycles. Mindfulness-based treatment enables patients to build resilience, enhance emotional control, and lower stress over time thereby allowing them to react to obstacles in a more harmonic and deliberate manner.
