I'm Julie Fox, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 25 years of experience walking alongside people through some of life's hardest moments. Trauma-informed care isn't just a framework I was trained in — it's the lens through which I approach every single person who walks through my door. If I had to describe my style in a few words, I'd say: warm, down to earth, and genuinely easy to be around. I don't believe therapy has to feel stiff or intimidating, and I work hard to make sure it doesn't. From the very first session, my goal is for you to feel like you can breathe — like this is a space where you don't have to perform, explain yourself, or have it all figured out before you show up. Building real relationships is at the heart of how I work. I want to actually know you — what makes you tick, what keeps you up at night, what you're hoping your life could look like on the other side of this. The connection we build together isn't just a nice bonus. It's one of the most powerful parts of the healing process. I believe that laughter has a place in therapy. Life is heavy, and sometimes the most healing thing we can do is find a moment of lightness together, even through the tears. I'll meet you in the hard places, and I'll also celebrate with you when things start to shift. Most importantly, I'll meet you exactly where you are. No judgment. No agenda. No pressure to be further along than you are. Just a steady, supportive presence in your corner. If you've been looking for someone who feels less like a clinician and more like a real human being, I think we might be a great fit.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Starting therapy can feel like a big step — and I want you to know that our first session is designed to feel as comfortable and low-pressure as possible. We'll spend that first meeting simply getting to know each other. There's no rush, and there's nothing you need to prepare or have figured out ahead of time. Part of what we're doing together in that first session is making sure we're a good fit — because the right connection matters, and I want you to leave feeling like this is a place you actually want to come back to. We'll talk about what's been bringing you to therapy — what's been heavy, what's been hard, or what finally made you decide that now was the time to reach out. I'll also ask about your history and the experiences that have shaped you, so I can begin to understand not just where you are right now, but how you got here. From there, we'll start exploring what you'd like to see change — what life could look like when things feel better — and together we'll begin to sketch out a plan to help you get there. It won't be perfect on day one, and that's okay. The plan evolves as we get to know each other better and as you grow. By the end of our first session, my hope is that you feel heard, understood, and a little more hopeful than when you walked in.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

When you work with me, you're not just getting a therapist — you're getting 25 years of real, hard-won clinical experience across some of the most demanding settings in the field. My career has taken me from inpatient acute care to residential treatment to outpatient therapy, which means I've sat with people in their darkest moments and walked with them all the way through to the other side. I understand the full spectrum of what human struggle looks like — and I've never lost my belief in people's ability to heal, no matter where they're starting from. I bring specialized training in some of the most effective, evidence-based approaches available today — CBT, DBT, TF-CBT, and EMDR — which means I have a deep and varied toolkit to draw from. Rather than fitting you into one method, I tailor my approach to what makes the most sense for you, your story, and your goals. But beyond credentials and clinical hours, I bring something that can't be taught in a classroom — lived experience. I know what it means to navigate hard things personally, and that shapes the way I show up for the people I work with. It's part of why acceptance and non-judgment aren't just values I talk about — they're things you'll actually feel in the room. I've seen a lot over 25 years. And what that experience has given me, more than anything, is a deep and unshakeable belief that people are resilient — and that the right support at the right time can change everything.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I'm a warm, laid-back therapist who genuinely believes that healing is possible — no matter what you've been through or how long you've been carrying it. I work with clients of all ages (4 and up), and I take pride in creating a space that feels more like a conversation than a clinical appointment. Most people tell me it didn't take long to feel comfortable, and that matters to me — because the relationship we build together is one of the most important parts of the work. My practice has a special place for teens and young adults who have faced more than their share of hard things. If you've experienced trauma, navigated the foster care system, or grown up in an adoptive family, you may carry wounds that aren't always visible to the people around you — questions about identity and belonging, a nervous system that stays on high alert, or coping patterns that made sense once but no longer serve you. I see you, and I know how to walk alongside you in that. Whether you're a young person finding your footing, a child whose family is trying to make sense of big behaviors and bigger feelings, or an adult ready to finally address what you've been carrying — you're welcome here. In our work together, we'll focus on healing from the past, building genuine self-esteem, and developing healthier ways to move through life's transitions and stressors. I want you to leave each session with something real — a new skill, a fresh perspective, a little more confidence than you came in with. I believe that with the right tools and the right support, meaningful change is possible. Not just surviving — but building a life that feels genuinely fulfilling and worth living.

My treatment methods

EMDR

I use EMDR to support clients working through trauma, PTSD, anxiety, grief, phobias, and difficult childhood experiences. You don't need to talk through every detail of what happened — EMDR works even when words feel hard to find.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT to help clients navigate anxiety, depression, OCD, stress, low self-esteem, and life transitions. It's a collaborative process — you're never just a passive recipient. Together, we'll build a toolkit that's genuinely tailored to you.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I use DBT to support clients dealing with intense emotions, self-destructive patterns, relationship difficulties, depression, anxiety, and the lasting effects of trauma. It's particularly meaningful work for people who feel like they've tried other approaches and still struggle to find solid ground.

Motivational Interviewing

MI is a gentle but powerful approach, and it works especially well when change feels complicated — whether that's related to substance use, health behaviors, relationships, career, or simply a life that no longer feels aligned with who you are or who you want to be.

Trauma-Focused CBT

What makes TF-CBT distinctive is that it's designed for the whole family. While I work individually with your child to process what happened and build coping skills, I also work with you as their caregiver — because your ability to support your child through this is one of the most powerful ingredients in their healing. We'll meet separately and together at different points throughout the process, so that you feel equipped, not on the outside looking in.
