Hello! I'm Rebecca. In my 10 years as a counselor, I have been humbled by the experiences of my clients. Choosing to seek counseling is hard. It means being vulnerable with a stranger to say, "I need help," and, "I can't fix this by myself." I would like to guide you on your journey to healing. I help my clients through the difficult and emotional process of healing relationships and overcoming the challenges of life in all its stages.
In our first session, we'll briefly get to know each other and discuss your hopes and expectations. We'll talk about the challenges you are facing in your life and what changes can make your life and relationships more positive. I'll help you identify some immediate goals to help set progress in motion as well as discuss some longer term goals we can work toward and achieve together. I want you to leave your first session with hope for overcoming your challenges and moving toward a better life.
I want to meet you where you are in life. I want you to be able to see your life as it truly is right now, but then I want to help you be the author of your own change. I often ask, "What do you want life to look like at the end of counseling?" As we answer this question, I can help you develop a vision of a brighter future and, step by step, set and accomplish the goals needed to achieve that vision.
Our thinking often influences our behavior. I will use CBT to help you re-set your thinking in more positive directions. This can enhance your self-esteem and improve your relationships.
Any couple can experience a more fulfilling relationship. There are techniques both partners can use to get there. I help heterosexual couples in relationship crisis understand the issues which divide them and the steps toward a more healthy, loving relationship. I can help you get rid of the obstacles which create distrust, isolation, and negativity. We'll identify the specific issues of conflict in your relationship and then I'll help you through a series of steps to restore harmony and joy. I specialize in helping couples to learn to communicate better, respect each other more, and develop habits that create healthy and loving bonds.
My approach to counseling is rooted in my Christian faith. I believe in the power of God to help everyone. I welcome people of all religious backgrounds, however. For clients with a Christian faith, I may use Biblical principles and Scripture as a compliment to counseling.
