Marlisha Thomas is an ambitious psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with experience providing medication management for adults (18yo - 65yo) with depression, anxiety, panic, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and sleep disorders. She works hard to provide her clients with a safe zone and a place to feel heard while freely being themselves. She takes the time to know her clients to help create and sustain a positive mental health journey. “I spend time getting to know the client by learning their hobbies, their method preferences, and their dislikes to help tailor care.” - Marlisha
The first session is primarily focused on building a rapport and ensuring that you feel comfortable with the process. During this appointment, we will begin by discussing your personal background, current challenges, and any mental health concerns you may be facing, such as anxiety, depression, or other emotional struggles. We will explore the main reasons you sought therapy and what specific goals or improvements you hope to achieve through treatment. I'll ask you a series of questions to better understand your history, including past mental health experiences, significant life events, and any relevant medical history. This helps me gain a comprehensive view of your situation and allows us to work together to determine the best approach to address your unique needs. We'll also discuss confidentiality and the importance of creating a safe, non-judgmental space where you can speak openly. I will answer any questions you may have about the process, and together we will decide on the next steps moving forward. By the end of the first session, we will have a clearer understanding of your concerns and begin identifying a treatment plan that may include talk therapy, coping strategies, or other interventions tailored to your individual goals.
