My name is Emmanuel Nwala, and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and US Army Veteran. I come from a multicultural background. I have a PhD in Psychology, and a Master of Science degree in Counseling. I have a passion for helping people reach their self-actualization, whatever that may be for each person. I enter a counseling relationship with open mind, enthusiasm and hope for healing for whomever I am working with. I provide Christian counseling if and when requested. I look forward to working together, with you.
During our initial sessions, we will collaborate to create a plan for addressing presenting issues in a way that helps you reach your goals for therapy. Most people I work with see a gradual lifting of symptoms within the first month and sustained improvement thereafter.
I am very person-centered and goal oriented. This means that I see the person I am working with as a person different from the presenting problems. I work with the person to establish goals for therapy and focus a lot of attention to helping the person reach their goals for therapy. You can expect me to use active and reflective listening in each session to ensure you feel heard. You can expect me to focus on your goals for therapy each session. You can expect that I will affirm you each session
I work with people struggling with different mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, stress, relationship issues, Couples issues, Trauma issues, and PTSD etc. I am currently focused on working with adults. I provide counseling services to different genders, different sexual orientations, different races/ ethnicities and diverse cultural backgrounds.
I tend to draw from different treatment methods when working with different persons.
I appreciate using CBT as an evidence-based method in helping anyone I work restructure how their thoughts affect their feelings and behaviors.
I enjoy introducing DBT skills to different persons I work with depending on presenting problems.
I use ACT method to help clients process presenting problems in ways that are mindful and in the moment.
TF-CBT comes handy for me when working with persons with traumatic experiences.
