I am a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Texas and also licensed in Colorado, Florida, Idaho, South Carolina, Utah, and Vermont. With more than 34 years of private practice experience, I help adults identify and overcome obstacles that interfere with daily functioning, relationships, personal growth, and achieving meaningful goals. My approach is practical, structured, and collaborative. I believe trust is the foundation of effective therapy, creating an environment where clients feel comfortable being open, honest, and willing to make lasting change. I also believe that appropriate humor, when used at the right time, can help build connection, reduce anxiety, and provide perspective during life's challenges. Throughout my career, I have continued to expand my knowledge through professional education, research, and the life experiences that come from working with a diverse range of clients over three decades. I am a lifelong Texan who has traveled extensively and gained an appreciation for different cultures, backgrounds, and life experiences. While I have not lived every situation my clients face, I have experienced many of life's challenges myself, allowing me to offer both professional guidance and genuine understanding. Even when life does not unfold as planned, there is no reason to face those struggles alone. To ensure clients receive the most appropriate care, my practice is generally not the best fit for individuals whose primary concerns involve major depressive disorders, Borderline Personality Disorder, or other conditions requiring more specialized or intensive treatment. In those situations, I encourage clients to work with clinicians whose practices are specifically focused on those needs.

Hello, and congratulations on taking this step. Reaching out takes awareness, courage, and a real commitment to change — it requires to invite someone into your struggles. I've spent over 25 years working in behavioral health as a clinician, clinical supervisor, and clinical director. My career has taken me from a faith-based agency in New England to a community behavioral health center in northeastern Arizona, where I eventually led clinical services for 12 years, to providing counseling at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base — an experience that deepened my respect for military members and their families. I now own a private practice in Sahuarita, Arizona. My work focuses on helping individuals navigate trauma, anxiety, depression, stress, emotional overwhelm, and life transitions. I also welcome working with military veterans, people of faith, and individuals and families facing serious illness. In the spring of 2025, I was diagnosed with cancer. I have since completed treatment and am now cancer free — and that experience gave me a much deeper appreciation for what it means to face something that reshapes your world. I don't see therapy as simply treating a diagnosis. I see it as working with you as a whole person — your strengths, fears, hopes, values, pain, and goals. I'll listen carefully, but I'll also be active: helping you identify patterns, understand difficult thoughts and emotions, build coping skills, and take meaningful steps forward. I won't claim to be the expert on your life. My role is to walk alongside you and help guide the change process at a pace that feels respectful and manageable. Frequently asked questions

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in Utah. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Utah from St. George to Provo! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Utah.

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
