Hello there! Kudos to you for taking this step. I’m a therapist that is devoted to her craft and that knows what it’s like to be broken. Therefore, I am going to be devoted to your healing and as knowledgeable as I can be in doing so. I’m also going to be able to come from a perspective of being able to identify with your hurting and to have unique perspectives on options for promoting your healing process.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in Cognitive Behavior Therapy, I join in collaboration and congruency with my clients demonstrating warmth, empathy, and genuineness--fundamental to the development of a therapeutic relationship. CBT is designed to bring in balance with use of tools and resources based on functioning of the person. My personal philosophy of life for counseling is that 'serene tranquility' coupled with 'bringing in balance' is cornerstone to the rejuvenation of Hope. It is the road to recovery; for restoration of faith from doubt/grief/loss; for personal growth and development; for understanding self and functioning in relationships with others; and, with building self-confidence and -esteem geared towards recognizing inherent characteristic qualities of life: worth, value, and validation. CBT helps with understanding the functional roles of all emotions, both positive and negative, and their impact on behavioral responses. I believe that you are the expert and pilot of your own life; and, am here to assist you with navigating your life journey by providing a safe and caring space free of judgment as your life co-pilot. My approach is one of warmth, that is proven Results-Oriented.
I’m so glad you’re here. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor with over three years of experience, and I’m passionate about helping you reach your full potential. Together, we’ll uncover the barriers that may be holding you back from making the positive changes you deserve.
I understand that life can feel overwhelming at times, especially when it comes to navigating relationships and understanding your own self-identity. My approach is all about empowering you to embrace your authentic self. We’ll work together to break down the obstacles in your way and create space for growth, healing, and even moments of laughter.
I’m committed to providing a safe and non-judgmental environment where you feel truly heard and understood. As your guide, I’ll support you in setting healthy boundaries, developing effective coping strategies, building confidence, and increasing self-love.
I look forward to walking alongside you on this journey toward becoming the best version of yourself. Let’s begin this transformative process together.
Hello,
I was born and raised in Stockton, California. I enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps at the age of 17 and in 1997, after 25 yeas of service, I retired from the Marine Corps as a Master Sergeant. After retiring from the Marine Corps, I worked as a Farrier (Horseshoer), as well as a structural welder (Ironworker), as those were the most marketable skill that I had. I came to a point where old injuries came back to haunt me and I could no longer walk (several years later, thanks to a surgery through the VA, I can walk again; thankful for that).
At this point, I changed professions and out of a desire to work with veterans, I returned to school, accomplishing all that was necessary to become a licensed counselor. I spent another career working for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, specifically as a counselor in the Readjustment Counseling Service (Vet Center). I recently retired from the Vet Center and now I work part-time here with Grow Therapy.
As a retired Marine senior staff Non-Commissioned Officer (SNCO) and disabled combat veteran myself, the Vet Center was the perfect job. Vet Centers provide readjustment counseling to combat veterans and provide counseling to survivors of military sexual trauma (MST). Vet Centers also provide group counseling, bereavement counseling and couples counseling when this is determined to be of support to the veteran.
Readjustment counseling many times consists of treating/addressing symptoms related to post-traumatic stress (PTSD), I.e., anxiety, depression, exaggerated startle response, hypervigilance, sleep disturbance, etc. Many veterans go on to work as first responders and working with many first responders as well as medical personal, has provided me with a great deal of additional experience.
As an integrated practitioner (therapist, meditation coach, and yoga teacher), I offer a modality that shifts the focus from fixing to realizing. Unlike approaches that seek to modify internal content (thoughts, feelings) to achieve stability, we anchor our work in the unwavering integrity that is already present within you.
The core of our collaboration rests on the capacity to embrace the present moment, requiring: radical openness, unreserved honesty, and a willingness to soften old patterns of resistance.
I bring deep competence in supporting individuals navigating the challenges of trauma, substance dependency, and neurodiversity (including my own experience with AUDHD). Having served as a veteran and worked extensively with this population, I understand the unique barriers and strengths involved, reiterating that the depth of the work is proportional to the sincerity of engagement.
This process is a shared inquiry. I act as a mirror and a compass, offering guidance to help you navigate toward the innate wisdom that already holds the answers. The true authority resides in your own developing awareness.
Secure online sessions in Indiana, Arizona, Texas, New Hampshire, and Illinois.

Why should you choose ME, over anyone else? That is the burning question. As I sit here and try to think of all the ways to possibly distinguish myself in comparison to my peers and colleagues, one specific thing comes to mind: the exact moment that I knew I wanted to be a therapist.
My life’s trials and tribulations have put me in a strangely unique position in regard to understanding and empathizing with much of what is thrown at many of us, and it is because of that, that I found strength in my weaknesses and lowest moments. Readjusting to life after deployments, after the military, after divorce and growing pains and heartache, was a monumentally transitional period of my life, and my therapist bared the brunt of my pain with compassion and grace. In my very last session, I looked him in the eyes and said: “I want to do what you’re doing. I want to help people the way that you’ve helped me. I’ve been on this side of the table – now I want to be on that side.”
So, what’re my credentials, expertise, focus and treatment approaches?
Credentials: MSW, LICSW (WA), LCSW (HI, TN, TX)
Expertise: My background and personal experience of the military and with Post-Traumatic Stress (PTS) ensure that I have a good handling on trauma and know all too well the burdens of Veterans that come with serving your country during war, as well as in the aftermath. Beyond that, I specialize and have experience with anger management, mood disorders, thought disorders, personality disorders, anxiety, social anxiety, depression, grief, eating disorders, self-esteem issues.
Approaches: I clinically find myself utilizing a psychodynamic approach to therapy with my clients. I believe we are who we are today based on the many influences we had in our lives, especially in those formidable early childhood years. Oftentimes, we can find the source of your current concerns today by processing how you originally developed your core values and beliefs. These roots run deeper than we typically ever realize without therapy. If you choose to work with me, we will naturally dive deeper into what this may mean for you. The path of healing is not an easy road, nor a short one. Doing the work takes gusto, but I believe that you have it inside of you, and I believe that I am the one for the job to aid in your process and growth.
I hope to hear from you soon!!!
Respectfully,
Sean
Hi, I’m Maria a Licensed Professional Counselor and Approved Clinical Supervisor with twenty years of experience, including more than fourteen years supporting military service members, veterans, and their families. I specialize in working with high-achieving adults who look put-together on the outside but feel overwhelmed, exhausted, or stuck under the surface. Many of my clients are used to carrying everything alone, pushing through stress, and holding themselves to impossible standards. In our work together, we slow things down, make sense of the patterns that keep you tense or on edge, and build tools that actually fit your life. My goal is to help you move from survival mode into a steadier, more grounded way of living where you feel clear, capable, and supported, not stretched thin.
Hello, and welcome! My name is JD, and I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in both Oklahoma and Texas. I’ve recently completed my internship for my doctorate in clinical psychology, with the goal of becoming a licensed psychologist in the near future. I began my LMFT career with completing my master's at University of Phoenix in 2009 and completed my full licensure in 2018.
I have 7 years of experience in addiction treatment through methadone care and have been working in the most current 6 years at a VA hospital assisting veterans and their families/couples creating heathier communication and making their lives better.
I have enjoyed practicing therapy to help individuals navigate challenging times and achieve meaningful life improvements since 2013. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor licensed in California, Texas, Colorado and Nebraska. I attended the University of Texas at San Antonio and received a Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling. Throughout my career, I’ve supported adults, from college-age through the span of professional working life, and across diverse environments, including universities, hospitals, the military community (active duty and dependents), and Veterans. My approach is compassionate and empathetic, and tailored to meet each client’s unique needs, with an emphasis on resilience, growth, and lasting change.
As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist nearing 20 years’ experience, I work with a foundation of Solution Focus and Systemic Therapy. I’m often looking for "the funny" in the moment and the world around me. I greatly enjoy sarcasm, snark, and satire. I'm fairly casual but have been told I "Clean up well", and clients have told me in the past they appreciate that I do not come across as "stuffy".
I'm often daydreaming of going on cruises with my wife and occasionally think about bringing our children as well. I treasure a long nap in a hammock, and I love movie. Once upon a time I even submitted a short film to the Cannes Film Festival (wasn't selected) but I did enter. Prior to being a therapist, I found myself listening and caring, as people would end up just talking to me and telling me their life story. I decided I should put that to good use. Additionally, growing up my family was fortunate to be able to adopt and quickly we became a larger family that could not remember when my sister was not part of the family. Through the process, I realized how important family and relationships.
I appreciate and look forward to the chance to help others get through the rough patches, when life hits hard. When the answer is not easily found, we take time to look at all the options and find something, at least one step towards better. We're not looking for perfection, just looking for progress, a little bit here and there.

Growing up in a military community as a student-athlete and bartender, I learned quickly that my passion and love for people would take the lead in picking a career. While receiving my master's degree at the University of Southern California, I concentrated on family and couple dynamics with a focus on military culture. Since becoming licensed in Texas, I have worked in the acute hospital setting with individuals in crisis processing trauma and working through the stages of grief. I specialize in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), solution-focused therapy, and task-oriented therapy.
