I am seeing patients only thru telehealth. I have experience and am comfortable working with people from every day mental health difficulties to chronic serious mental health disabilities including co-occurring disorders. I lean towards person centered and Dialectical behavior therapy. I have worked in multiple settings. I always wanted to be a doctor but learned in college they don’t talk to their patients much. I switched to psychology with an emphasis on counseling and have loved it since . I enjoy helping people and seeing them help themselves . I was raised a child of a military service member and had to learn how to adapt with every move. Learning to adapt and find the best balance with every move became second nature . I have worked in inpatient and outpatient settings . I have worked with refugees with limited English and families in the foster care system in addition to other mental health needs. I have experience with the court systems and people in step down programs coming from the state hospital or other higher levels of care. I have over time found Dialectical behavior therapy or a mix of therapies that works best with clients. I am open to alternative lifestyles . I have attended training's telehealth and more. I have found everyone has their own level of comfort and that may not include a need to change much for everyone but an acceptance of self and current abilities. I aim to meet any client on their level and help only as much as they would like. When starting I like to look at the whole picture with a summary of the past. I do not do trauma work without a good level of coping skills. I will assign homework based on client individual needs .

Hello! My name is Jessica Aleman, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) serving the wonderful people of Texas. I have over 10 years experience in direct practice. Right now, I am working part-time as a therapist in addition to my full time position. One of my favorite things to do is spend time at the beach with my husband and spending time with my dogs Piper and Leo. I knew from a young age that I wanted to help people in some capacity and during school settled into social work. Experiences I have had growing up with my family allowed wonderful mental health professionals to help various family members on different things, and I am happy to now be that person who can support others. I have a great deal of experience providing treatment for a number of different diagnoses, including anxiety, depression, and mood disorders (among others). I also have experience working with the LGBTQ+ community to provide support and connection to resources. I have worked in a variety of settings, from community mental health, school based counseling (K-12 and higher education), and private practice settings. I believe that people are not defined by their experiences or what has happened to them in their past. Some of us just need some help to move forward in our lives past those experiences. I try my best to treat you and our therapeutic relationship with the utmost respect and understanding. My passion is working with young adults as they transition to the next stage in life, whatever that may be. I love supporting people through life changes and transitions, allowing people to blossom into who they truly are.

I believe that everyone has the ability to overcome any adversity they face, they just need a little help or guidance along the way. It is my perspective on mental health is that everyone will get “stuck” in their own cycle of trying to help themselves in a way that was never going to work for them. I want to work with you on how to best overcome these challenges, so I’ll never tell you what to do or what choice works best but I will make sure we figure it out together.

As a licensed marriage and family therapist I have particular experience and training in understanding individuals in the context of their relationships, families, and social identities. Sometimes our distress isn't just about what we're doing or not doing. Oftentimes, it's about how we move through the world in our social identities and how the world perceives and interacts with us so I want you to be able to talk about that in therapy. I work with families and couples; However, It is not uncommon for me to work with individuals. Even when I am working with an individual, I understand that individual in context. I can relate and find it meaningful to work with individuals suffering from anxiety. Anxiety can be crippling and paralyzing, causing us to overthink which can get in the way of so many things in life from accomplishing goals, trying new things, socializing, sleeping or even smaller things that add up until you're overwhelmed with them, like answering the phone or checking your mail. If you're feeling misunderstood, like you can't be yourself, anxious, worried, or trapped in repeating patterns that are causing you pain, I will join you where you are and we can work together to help you create a secure sense of self, and restore and improve relationships.

I believe people seek therapy for many reasons: adjustment to a new city or life situation, feeling overwhelmed or stuck, or problems with relationships. Therapy can be helpful in a variety of ways. My personal journey to therapy began when the lack of marital resources or mentors led me to extensive research on causes and climbing rates of divorce. I believe that a healthy family unit is critical to the health and well-being of each of us. My passion to foster healthy individuals and families begins with providing pre-marital and ongoing counseling to couples to better understand themselves and each other. Although I am never able to promise results, I believe in utilizing evidenced-based therapeutic methods such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to ensure clients can see short term results in their lives and in their relationships. This is done by processing past experiences, healing trauma and challenging unhealthy and misleading thoughts. I currently hold Level 2 Gottman certification and have extensive experience working with couples. I have had the pleasure of witnessing the power of commitment and dedication. I also work with couples in transitioning to co-parenting relationships to continue focusing on a healthy family. I wholeheartedly believe in making relationships fun and exciting! I also work with individuals suffering from traumatic experiences, anxiety and depression to develop interpersonal and coping skills, develop impulse control, establish boundaries and live the life you envision. I believe in creating a therapeutic partnership with my clients and going on the journey together.

It can be difficult decision and the work that follows in not easy, but with an open mind, and practice, you will get where you want to be. My job is to facilitate your journey into self discovery, and help you find and attain what you want. Therapy is about you, and the work you do will determine the success you have in therapy. Let me assure you that coming to therapy does not mean you are "crazy" or weak. It takes courage and strength to open yourself up to a stranger and do that deep dive into your vulnerable self. Be proud you have made this choice, and recognize that with a little help you can change your life.
