Hello. I am a follower of Jesus Christ, and I'm also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Illinois. I have worked in the field of Social Work for 25 years at the Bachelor's level, including case management for at-risk youth, CPS investigations and medical social work. I received my Master's of Science in Social Work from the University of Louisville and have been practicing five years. At this time, I provide individual therapy to adults dealing with anxiety, depression and trauma among other issues. We work to recognize triggers/barriers to successful living and then learn to effectively reframe these in order to be a better version of yourself.
I am a LPCC-S in Kentucky with over 13 years of experience that include working as a treatment director and therapist of a mental health facility. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, OCD, DMDD, ODD, PTSD and ADHD. I also helped many people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse, and I am certified for TF-CBT and working on the trauma narrative. I have worked with all ages which includes children (6-12), adolescents (13-20), and adults.

As a therapist, my goal is to help you answer the "why can't I..." questions. "Why can't I seem to get a handle on my anxiety or depression?", "why can't I seem to get out of these cycles of relationships, jobs, friendships?", "why can't I seem to get rid of these negative thoughts?". A lot of times these questions can feel like running in circles. But what if it wasn't a circle, but a labyrinth where you hit a few dead ends and need some help getting back on track? If those questions keep you up at night, my aim is to create a supportive and engaging space where we can explore these together.
As a therapist with extensive training in trauma from the EMDR Institute and over 10 years in working with homeless youth and refugee populations, I have helped many individuals find answers to those questions. I offer online Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy.
With starting Revival Therapeutic Services, our goal is to provide affordable, trauma-focused and LGBTQ + affirming online and in person therapy. If you've ever struggled with any of those "why can't I..." questions or are struggling with adjusting to life after a traumatic experience, I invite you to reach out.
Welcome — I know reaching out for therapy can feel overwhelming, especially if you’ve spent a long time feeling misunderstood, emotionally exhausted, stuck in unhealthy patterns, or unsure how to move forward.
Many of my clients come to therapy struggling with anxiety, emotional overwhelm, relationship stress, self-worth issues, attachment wounds, or feeling disconnected from themselves and the people around them. Some are navigating conflict, betrayal, burnout, identity concerns, or simply feeling “stuck” despite trying hard to hold everything together.
My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, supported, understood, and challenged in a healthy way. I take a compassionate but active approach to therapy — helping clients not only process emotions, but also understand their patterns, regulate their nervous system, and build practical tools for lasting change.
You do not have to figure everything out alone.
With over 21 years of experience in the mental health field, I am dedicated to helping adults navigate life’s challenges and find healing. As an LPCC licensed in both Ohio and Kentucky, I specialize in treating trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, and self-esteem issues.
I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of Cincinnati, and my approach integrates a deep understanding of human emotion with a genuine desire to create meaningful change. My therapeutic style is warm, approachable, and often includes humor to help create an open and supportive space for growth.
I use trauma-informed care and evidence-based practices to help clients process past experiences, build resilience, and reclaim their sense of safety and control. Validation, empathy, and humor are key tools I use to make healing feel not only possible but hopeful. Together, we work to foster lasting change, create healthier coping strategies, and develop a stronger, more empowered sense of self.
Life’s challenges can feel overwhelming, but with the right support, transformation is always within reach. I am here to walk with you, every step of the way, toward a future filled with healing, strength, and peace.
My name is Michael Starr, and I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. I believe therapy is more than just problem-solving, it’s a place to rediscover who you are, heal what’s been hidden, and move forward with clarity and strength. I work with individuals, couples, and families facing anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, identity questions, and emotional overwhelm.
My style is honest, grounded, and deeply respectful of the human experience. I use evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Trauma-Focused CBT, but I also hold space for what cannot always be explained, your story, your meaning, your growth.
Clients often come to me feeling stuck, disconnected, or unsure of how to move forward. Together, we uncover the patterns keeping you there and build the insight, skills, and resilience to move through them. You won’t be rushed or judged. You’ll be heard, supported, and challenged when needed.
You don’t have to have all the answers. You just have to be willing to start. Healing begins with one honest conversation, and I’m here to take that step with you.
Life is tough, and starting therapy is a big step- I'm glad you're here! I view therapy as a safe, nonjudgmental space where you learn more about yourself and what you want. As your therapist, I'll help you identify patterns in your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that may be holding you back. We'll work together on a plan that focuses on what matters most to you. My ultimate goal is to give my clients the tools they need to live their best lives and be the best version of themselves possible.
It's natural to want to know about a potential therapist, so here's some info about me and my experience that will help you determine if we'd be a good fit: I have 15 years of clinical social work experience, much of it in hospital and crisis settings. I really enjoy learning and staying up to date with the latest advances in clinical practice, and I earned my doctorate in social work in 2023. I work best with those struggling with mood disorders, anxiety, and depression. I enjoy working with people to navigate life's many stressors, including employment and relationship issues. Additionally, I am an LBGTQ+ and neurodiverse-affirming therapist with extensive training and expertise in these areas.
My approach is warm, supportive, and collaborative—I aim to create a space where you feel truly heard and supported. I'll check in frequently to make sure you're getting what you need out of therapy. I like sessions to be structured enough that they feel productive, while allowing space to discuss the topics most important to you in the moment.

I have approximately 30 years of experience in virtually all clinical settings. I began my career working in a juvenile penitentiary (referred to as a 'youth development center) and after almost 6 years, left that setting and moved on to new opportunities. Along the way, I worked with group homes, foster homes, substance abuse treatment programs, and even provided treatment in a sexual offender treatment program. In 2004 I went solely into private practice and currently operate two offices. I also provided on-site services to businesses that suffer a death or other disruptive event; I have provided over 170 of these services in four states during the last several years. While you don't need any faith to see me, I also offer Christian Counseling. Finally, I am a US Army veteran and understand the challenges and needs of veterans.
I operate under a practical approach that seeks to build on a person's strengths to achieve realistic, measurable goals. I utilize primarily cognitive behavioral therapy and reality therapy to help my clients achieve their goals and to live life more fully.
I am licensed with over 20 years of professional work experience. I have experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety, LGBT-related issues, relationship issues, & family conflicts. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage. I am here to support you in that process.
