I'm Tanya Fowler, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over 25 years of clinical experience. I believe mental health care should treat the whole person... not just symptoms, so my approach blends evidence-based psychiatric medication management with genuine listening, education, and collaboration. My goal is for every client to leave our visits feeling heard, informed, and hopeful about their path forward.

First session

In our first visit, my main job is to listen. We'll review your symptoms, history, previous medications, sleep, and daily life so I can understand the full picture - not just a diagnosis. Then we'll talk through options together and create a treatment plan that makes sense for you. You'll leave knowing what we're doing, why we're doing it, and when we'll follow up. My hope is that you finish our first session feeling relieved you took this step.

Strengths

Three things set my care apart: experience, listening, and honesty. With 25+ years in mental health, I recognize patterns quickly and know when a 'treatment-resistant' problem is really an undiagnosed one. I give clients room to tell their full story, and I'm honest about what medications can and can't do - I'd rather set realistic expectations than overpromise. My clients become true partners in their care, and that partnership is where results come from.

Ideal clients

I work especially well with adults who feel like previous treatment fell short - the person who's been on several medications that 'sort of' helped, who was rushed through 10-minute appointments, or who suspects there's more to their story than the diagnosis they were given. If you want a provider who will slow down, look at the whole picture, and adjust until we find what actually works, we'll be a great fit. All I ask is honesty and a willingness to stay engaged, even when progress takes patience.

Treatment methods

Supportive

I integrate supportive therapy into every med management visit through empathic listening, validation, and reinforcing clients' strengths and coping skills. This builds the therapeutic alliance, improves engagement, and helps clients navigate stressors and treatment transitions. I collaborate with clients' therapists when dedicated psychotherapy is needed.
