Hello! My name is Katie and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Clinical Alcohol & Drug Counselor (LCADC) in the state of New Jersey with 10+ years of professional experience. I have helped a wide variety of clients in different settings with struggles like depression, anxiety, family conflict, homelessness, legal involvement, substance abuse and trauma.
First session
The first session includes getting to know you and your story, figuring out how treatment can best assist you and the beginning of a very important therapeutic relationship.
Strengths
I believe strongly in the power of a healing relationship between the therapist and client. My style is warm, inviting and not without humor. I will work with you to create and accomplish goals for your treatment. I use an eclectic approach to therapy; utilizing techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Positive Psychology, Solutions Focused Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Above all, I believe that you are the expert in your own life, and that my role is to help you identify and utilize your own strengths and experiences to successfully navigate life's struggles.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is someone who is ready to take a closer look at themselves, understand the patterns that may be keeping them stuck, and make meaningful changes in their life. I enjoy working with individuals who may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, disconnected or uncertain about their next steps, but who know they want something to feel different. Therapy can be a place to slow down, feel heard without judgment and develop practical tools for navigating life's challenges.
