In our first session together, here's what you can expect

What to Expect at Your First Session Coming to therapy is an act of courage and care. Whether this is your first time or you’re returning to therapy after a break, our first session at PLM METTA Healing Oasis is all about slowing down, grounding, and building connection. Here’s what you can expect: 🌿 A Soft Landing The first session isn’t about diving into your deepest wounds, it’s about getting to know each other. I’ll invite you to share what brings you in, what’s been on your heart, and what you hope to shift or explore in therapy. There’s no pressure to tell your full story right away, we go at your pace. 🌿 A Trauma-Informed Space You’ll be met with compassion, curiosity, and no judgment. I’m here to listen deeply and help you feel safe, especially if therapy has felt clinical, rushed, or invalidating in the past. I’ll explain your rights as a client, review confidentiality, and make space for any questions or hesitations. 🌿 Collaborative Reflection We’ll talk through your intake form together (if completed) and identify a few early therapy goals. You’ll be invited to name what support looks like for you: what helps you feel grounded, how you’d like to be held accountable, and how you know when something feels “off” or uncomfortable. 🌿 No Fixing, Just Honoring This is a space to be real, not perfect. You don’t have to have the right words or know exactly what you need. It’s okay to cry. It’s okay to laugh. It’s okay to say “I don’t know.” You are not here to be fixed, you are here to be seen, supported, and slowly transformed. ✺ After the Session You might feel lighter, tender, or even a bit unsure afterward. That’s all normal. You’ll leave with a sense of what our work together can look like, and I’ll share my early impressions and recommendations for next steps. We’ll schedule our next session if it feels like a good fit. ✨ This is the beginning of your healing. Let’s take the first step with care. If you have any questions before your session, feel free to reach out.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

BIPOC; Male and Female: Who I’m Best Positioned to Serve At PLM METTA Healing Oasis, I specialize in holding space for people who are high-functioning on the outside but hurting on the inside, those who carry a lot, often for others, and are finally ready to care for themselves. I’m here for women, femmes, and gender-expansive individuals who are: • Deeply self-aware but still feel stuck in old patterns • Emotionally exhausted, burned out, or grieving quietly • Living with chronic stress, anxiety, or depression that’s been minimized or misunderstood by others • Navigating trauma, whether recent or long past, including emotional abuse, medical trauma, or childhood neglect • Facing major transitions: divorce, motherhood, caregiving, loss, relocation, or identity shifts • Questioning their place, purpose, or priorities in life, love, or work • Struggling to set boundaries, stop people-pleasing, or break free from perfectionism • Longing to reconnect with joy, creativity, and self-compassion Many of my clients are Black women, women of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, and people whose healing is shaped by cultural, generational, or systemic stress. I provide a therapeutic space that is affirming, intersectional, and trauma-informed, where all parts of you are welcome. Whether you’ve tried therapy before or are seeking it for the first time, you’re not here by accident. You’re here because some part of you knows it’s time to feel different. More whole. More grounded. More you. I work best with clients who are ready to… ✨ Be curious, not critical, about their patterns ✨ Do deep work at a thoughtful and sustainable pace ✨ Let go of survival mode and step into intentional healing ✨ Build self-trust, even when it feels scary ✨ Redefine success, strength, and softness on their own terms You don’t have to keep carrying this alone. Let’s find your way forward, together.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-i)

My Approach: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) At PLM Metta Healing Oasis, I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as one of the core treatment approaches in supporting individuals on their path to emotional wellness. CBT is a practical, evidence-based method that helps clients understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected—and how shifting one can positively impact the others. With years of experience using CBT, I’ve seen firsthand how transformative this approach can be. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, chronic stress, grief, or the emotional toll of chronic illness, CBT provides concrete tools to help you regain clarity, confidence, and control in your life. In our work together, we’ll identify patterns of thinking that may be keeping you stuck and replace them with healthier, more empowering perspectives. I’ll guide you in building coping strategies that are not just effective in session, but sustainable in your daily life. This often includes: • Cognitive restructuring to challenge self-limiting beliefs • Behavioral activation to increase engagement with meaningful activities • Mindfulness practices to help regulate emotions and stay grounded • Practical tools and exercises tailored to your goals and lifestyle I also take a culturally responsive, trauma-informed approach to CBT, recognizing that healing must honor your lived experiences and values. Therapy at PLM Metta Healing Oasis is always collaborative, compassionate, and client-centered. Together, we’ll create a safe space where growth feels possible and deeply supported.

Positive Psychology

At PLM METTA Healing Oasis, Positive Psychology is more than a treatment method, it’s a guiding philosophy woven into how I support clients in cultivating emotional wellness, personal growth, and deep self-acceptance. Rather than focusing solely on what’s “wrong,” Positive Psychology invites us to explore what’s strong. My experience with Positive Psychology has shown me how empowering it is to help clients shift from surviving to thriving. While we absolutely hold space for pain, grief, and trauma, we also intentionally nurture resilience, purpose, and joy. This approach is especially powerful for individuals who are ready to rediscover their inner light after life’s challenges, losses, or transitions. In my practice, I integrate Positive Psychology by helping clients: • Identify personal strengths and learn how to use them in daily life • Build resilience through gratitude, mindfulness, and self-compassion • Clarify values and align actions with a deeper sense of meaning • Cultivate positive emotions to support emotional healing and balance • Reconnect with hope, creativity, and a vision for the future Positive Psychology is deeply aligned with the spirit of METTA, loving-kindness and unconditional regard. At PLM METTA Healing Oasis, I offer a therapeutic space where we don’t just treat symptoms, but also awaken potential. You are more than your struggles, and our work together honors your wholeness, wisdom, and capacity for transformation.
