Hello! My name is Daniel S. Brown, LCSW. Do you feel stuck in your life? Have you felt unseen or unheard? Are you finding it difficult to cope with grief, anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, or spiritual or religious issues? It is my passion to help my clients from a place of true acceptance, curiosity, and respect. In our first session, my priority will be to learn what it is you are looking for in psychotherapy, to listen to any part of your story you are comfortable sharing with me, and to decide with you how we can best move forward to help, support, and heal you. From then on, we will work together towards these aims, always at a pace you are comfortable with and in a way that keeps you in the driver's seat. It takes a great deal of courage to seek help. Doing so is already a big step in the right direction! Together we can build upon this first step towards a life that is more aligned with your mind, body, and spirit.
Different clients take away different things from sessions with me, depending on what they decide they want out of our work together. Some clients work towards having a more harmonized and unburdened psyche. Others seek to better understand their goals and how they can work towards them. Most clients take away invaluable skills ranging from helping them cope to helping them thrive.
I utilize an eclectic therapeutic style. My main influences are Internal Family Systems Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness Meditation, and Prolonged Grief Therapy.
I consider my strengths as a psychotherapist to be my ability to create a comfortable and safe space, my understanding of spiritual/religious topics and issues, and my experience in helping my clients with grief and loss. My clients also tell me that they appreciate how I help them understand issues in their lives in new ways.
