As women, we can find ourselves struggling too much with the demands of relationships, family, parenting, jobs, trauma, loss, living solo, finances, injustice, and the juggling act of any or all of these. Sometimes, maybe too much of the time, we feel worried, sad, lonely, angry, or downright exhausted from the spiraling stress. Our health is impacted, along with our self-esteem, our mental health, our work, our relationships, and our vision of what matters, of what we want our lives to be. You’ve already come far by becoming aware of this and a need to address it. I am here to partner with you to help you find balance and ease through insight, skill building, and meaningful action in the direction of your best life.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

It is the most essential thing to me that you feel safe, seen, and heard. In our first session, I will orient you to telehealth and my practice. I will invite you to share your story and ask questions. If we decide to continue together, we will focus on developing the insights, skills, and routines that bring balance and ease through talk, reflection, practice, tears, laughter, and fearless examination of progress toward your dream for your self and your life.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a mental health professional, my greatest strength is my lived experience as a human being and as a clinician, from which I have cultivated this bit of wisdom: YOU are the expert of your own life -- not me, and not anyone else. You have all the power and knowing inside you. I am here to partner with you on your journey to fully realize this. My goal is to empower you to live your best life, on your own terms, in your own voice.

My treatment methods

Humanistic

Humanistic Therapy is a holistic approach that aims to help you develop a strong and healthy sense of self, explore and regulate your thoughts and feelings, find meaning and purpose, and use your strengths to move you in the direction of your best life. In practice, I mainly incorporate trauma-focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and alternative approaches to wellness into the larger philosophy of Humanistic Psychology.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

ACT builds on the cognitive behavioral paradigms through practical strategies to manage difficult thoughts, feelings, and sensations, and then making conscious choices in the direction of what matters to you. The practice of acting on choices that are grounded in your values is the basis for the journey toward authenticity and contentment.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing is deeply person-centered, grounded in the belief that all the power and all the solutions lie inside of the client. It is a toolbox of clinical communication skills I use to facilitate your discovery of your goals, your dreams, and your best self.
