Change can be scary at times, and yet feeling stagnant can often mimic a hostage situation; where we feel trapped in a negative mindset. As humans, we all have the capacity to evolve, and I want you to be convicted in your ability to achieve that. I have years of experience working with adults, young adults, (and other age groups) of diverse backgrounds. I look forward to connecting with anyone that is committed to their process. I also enjoy working with individuals from LGBTQIA+, Immigrant & LatinX (hablo Espanol perfectamente bien!) communities & adults with ADHD.
During the initial intake session, I like to get a sense of who you are. I like to inform you of important laws, policies, or things that you need to know as part of engaging in therapeutic treatment. I like to briefly review or discuss your intake paperwork, and learn about the main challenges you have been facing. Thinking about ways that we can work together collaboratively , I want us to identify some specific goals for treatment going forward. Also, I want you to feel safe , comfortable, and have the openness to share.
Blending research and evidence with my creativity, and ability to think outside the box, I am optimistic that I can provide a therapeutic setting that will be both engaging and purposeful. Placing your trust in someone when it comes to this process is a big deal, I get that, and I truly hold in high regard your decision to entrust me as your new therapist . Learning how to accept and sit with feelings without judgements, grounding techniques, cultivating mindfulness habits , etc.
I incorporate certain aspects and skills that are part of DBT as they can be helpful to improve treatment outcomes.
Assessing stages of readiness for change , pointing out discrepancies between identified goals and current or ongoing behaviors , etc.
Acknowledging every client has their own set of strengths , and encouraging client's to utilize and build upon their strengths to help improve treatment outcomes.
