I am a fully licensed clinical social worker and a certified advanced alcohol and drug counselor. I work with clients to identify and interrupt unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviors to help improve their mood and general functioning. I do not like to make assumptions about my clients. I take the time to get to understand my clients and their specific needs, problems, worries, concerns, and stressors.
In the first session clients can expect to discuss their specific concerns that have brought them into therapy. I will be asking questions to gain context and understanding. This will include questions about upbringing, background, culture, medical history, symptom history, medications, physical health, and traumatic experiences. Clients' current living situation, lifestyle, and stressors will also be discussed during the first session.
My greatest strengths as a provider are my genuine nature and demeanor, my curiosity, and my desire to understand my clients' experience.
You're feeling anxious, depressed, and overwhelmed. You're stuck in a cycle of hard feelings and unhelpful behaviors. Maybe you're drinking too much, snapping at your family, sleeping too much, or neglecting your responsibilities. You want to change but you don't know how to get out of the rut.
I have used this method of treatment to help clients identify and address unhelpful patterns of thinking and behavior.
