Treatment methods
Supportive
During your medication management appointment, we do more than just review your medications. We also spend time talking about the challenges you're experiencing and work together on practical ways to help you feel and function better. This is called supportive therapy. Supportive therapy is a brief form of counseling that focuses on what is happening in your life right now. Depending on your needs, we may discuss stress, anxiety, depression, ADHD symptoms, relationships, work or school challenges, sleep, coping skills, or other concerns that are affecting your well-being. During these conversations, I may help you: * Better understand your symptoms. * Develop healthy coping strategies. * Improve problem-solving and decision-making. * Learn ways to manage stress and emotions. * Build confidence and resilience. * Stay consistent with your treatment plan and medications. * Set realistic goals to improve your daily functioning. This therapy is provided as part of your medication management visit when it is clinically appropriate. It is intended to complement your medications by helping you develop skills and strategies that support your recovery and overall mental health. Please note that supportive therapy is different from long-term weekly psychotherapy. If you need more intensive or specialized therapy, we can discuss a referral to a therapist while continuing to manage your medications.
