New to Grow
Hiiii, my name is JaLisa and I created a private practice called Lotus Light Healing with the intention of helping clients feel empowered, grounded, and able to grow through life’s challenges, just like the lotus flower. The lotus is a symbol of resilience, representing the ability to rise through difficult or “murky” experiences and still bloom into something strong and beautiful. I view myself as a warm, collaborative, and compassionate therapist who creates a safe and nonjudgmental space for growth and self-exploration. My style is both supportive and direct, helping clients feel understood while also gently challenging patterns that may be keeping them stuck. I work with teens, young and older women navigating anxiety, relationship stress, self-esteem concerns, and life transitions, with a focus on building self-trust, emotional awareness, and healthier boundaries.
In our first session, the focus is on getting to know you and understanding what brought you to therapy. We’ll talk about what’s been feeling heavy, what patterns you’re noticing in your life, and what you hope to change or understand more deeply. I may introduce simple grounding or reflection exercises, such as visualization or the “cloud” exercise, to help us explore your emotions, concerns and thought patterns in real time. This session is also a space for you to ask questions and get a feel for how I work, so therapy feels like a collaborative fit rather than something you have to figure out alone. My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling seen, understood, and clearer about your next steps.
What strengthens my work as a therapist is not only my clinical training, but my lived understanding of what it feels like to move through periods of change, uncertainty, and self-discovery where support is necessary. Like many people, I’ve had experiences that shaped how I understand identity, boundaries, emotional overwhelm, and the process of rebuilding self-trust over time. I bring this human awareness into the therapy space in a grounded and intentional way, allowing clients to feel met rather than analyzed. I am especially attuned to the emotional weight of people-pleasing, shifting family dynamics, ADHD-related challenges, and the experience of feeling disconnected from oneself while still trying to function in daily life. I show up with warmth, honesty, and steadiness, helping clients feel safe enough to explore their patterns and supported enough to begin creating new ones.
I enjoy working with teens, young and older women who are navigating life transitions, relationship challenges, anxiety, and self-esteem concerns. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, disconnected from themselves, or stuck in patterns that no longer serve them. Together, we create a supportive space to explore emotions, build healthier boundaries, strengthen self-worth, and develop practical coping skills. My approach is warm, collaborative, and direct, balancing validation with gentle challenges that encourage growth. I am passionate about helping clients deepen their self-understanding, trust themselves more fully, and create meaningful, lasting change in their lives.
Other specialties
I identify as
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
The way I incorporate ACT is by helping clients identify what is within their control and learn how to make peace with what isn’t. Together, we focus on accepting difficult emotions without letting them dictate our choices, while taking meaningful steps toward a life that aligns with their values and goals.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I love using DBT to help clients build practical skills for navigating overwhelming emotions, impulsive behaviors, relationship challenges, and life stressors. Whether we’re working through emotional dysregulation, ADHD, mood concerns, or personality-related difficulties, I focus on helping clients create balance between acceptance and change while developing skills they can use in everyday life
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
I incorporate IFS through gentle parts work, helping clients explore the different aspects of themselves that may show up in response to past experiences, relationships, or current stressors. My goal is to help clients understand their inner world with curiosity rather than judgment, creating space for healing, self-compassion, and deeper self-understanding.
