TVA employs counseling techniques that will unleash hidden potential in every individual so that through empowerment they will be able to overcome life’s difficult circumstances. Dr. Toombs completed her doctoral degree at Mercer University and holds a Master of Education degree in School Counseling from the Kent State University, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Mental Health, from Wilberforce University. What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Total Victory Alliance wants you to know that no matter what happens to you, no matter where you are, you can never be lost in God’s love. If you are suffering as an individual, spouse, or parent, don’t withdraw from God. Identify with Him and allow His love to reach you and heal you. Our motto is Partnering to build connections for a healthier you.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I often use Solution-based therapy. This approach focuses on peoples' strengths and resources to create positive change. Also, Brainspotting, which is a relatively new type of therapy designed to help people access, process, and overcome trauma, negative emotions, and pain.

My treatment methods

Brainspotting

Brainspotting is a therapeutic technique that taps into the brain’s natural ability to heal itself. It is an advanced brain-body therapy that focuses on identifying, processing, and releasing trauma, mental health imbalances, and residual emotional stress.

Supportive

Supportive therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses various techniques to help patients cope with life stressors, reduce symptoms and distress, and improve self-esteem and reality testing. It relies on the therapeutic alliance and the therapist's listening and advice skills to be encouraging and comforting. It preserves the patient's voice, authority, and agency.

Christian Counseling

Christian counseling is a type of therapy that integrates traditional talk therapy methodologies with Christian belief practices. It uses scripture and biblical teachings to help you deal with life’s challenges and spiritual concerns. Christian counseling can help you improve your mental health and relationships by incorporating theological concepts.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is a short-term goal-focused evidence-based therapeutic approach, which incorporates positive psychology principles and practices, and which helps clients change by constructing solutions rather than focusing on problems.
