Life is full of challenges; sometimes we need some extra support to navigate through these times. You don't have to do it alone. If you are feeling overwhelmed by life or struggling to work through some difficult challenges on your own, support is a good thing. I work with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma. My goal is to provide an overall atmosphere where you feel comfortable, welcomed and supported in understanding the challenge, creating goals and developing new skills and habits to support the changes you want for yourself. I use a trauma-informed connection and compassion focused, client lead, strengths based, talk therapy approach. I incorporate evidence based modalities such as, cognitive behavioral therapy, DBT, narrative therapy, motivational interviewing, mindfulness, relaxation techniques and structured grief work. Come as you are, I will affirm you and support you in being your most authentic self. The healing journey is personal, non-linear and can feel overwhelming. One of my favorite quotes about therapy is “Therapy is a gift. It is a chance to finally be heard, understood and supported.” If you are ready to take this step and gift this to yourself, I am ready to unconditionally hear and hold your experiences with you on this journey.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, I encourage you to just get it all out however it flows from you. Don't worry I will keep up! You are welcome to ask me questions too if it helps you feel comfortable. I will do my best to help you feel comfortable and relaxed while we talk about what you'd like to utilize this time for and how I might best help you. We will discuss some goals to help keep us focused in future sessions and find a sense of direction for our work.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

While I do utilize evidence based practices to support my therapeutic approach, I also feel I have worked to make my approach authentic to who I am as a person. I am intuitive and love to allow the process to unfold organically, following you (or guiding you) and meeting you where you are at, ensuring that you feel connected and embraced in the protective space we create. I see myself growing in this work and life to be the wise old village woman, who lives in an cozy stone cottage, whom people go to visit and heal their spirits over a cup of tea, or many.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am open and happy to engage with anyone who is looking for support, validation or to work on specific challenges and develop healthy coping skills or discover a new way of looking at a challenge. I have found I have a deeper sense of comfort and ability working with grief and loss, with women's issues, with teens, with those struggling with challenging transitions and with those struggling with symptoms of anxiety and depression.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I utilize CBT and components of CBT to help my clients understand their anxiety, depression and other habits in a way that allows us to build up tools to manage symptoms or responses more effectively.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-i)

Using CBT-i has been shown to be highly effective in treating insomnia symptoms. I have found when used in conjunction with an improved sleep routine CBT-i works wonders.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

DBT offers so many wonderful tools and that support emotional regulation and understanding our behavior patterns. I often use it with CBT as building blocks to create the desired change.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I have found that learning about and embracing mindfulness to be of enormous value to the human experience. I love teaching clients about mindfulness and how to integrate it into life to increase a sense of peace, calm, control and also release.

Grief Therapy

Grief is sometimes an intense part of the human experience, but it is also something many of us are uncomfortable with or have not been shown how to navigate. I sometimes find working through the Tasks of Mourning with my grieving clients to be a healing avenue in addition to holding space and being a supportive active listener for this sacred energy. The path is wide open with grief and I am honored to sit with you through this part of your journey.
