New to Grow
Hi, I'm Mary Kastner, a Licensed Independent Social Worker with 40 years of experience helping children, adults, and families navigate life's challenges. I provide a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients can explore concerns, build confidence, and develop practical tools for lasting change. My approach is personalized to each individual and focuses on helping clients recognize their strengths, heal from difficult experiences, and move toward the life they want to create.
During our first session, we will spend time getting to know one another and discussing what brings you to therapy. I will ask questions about your current concerns, personal history, strengths, and goals so I can better understand how to support you. Together, we will begin identifying areas you'd like to work on and develop a plan that feels comfortable and meaningful to you. My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where you feel heard and understood. There is no pressure to share everything at once. We will move at a pace that feels right for you while beginning to build the trust and connection that are important for meaningful growth and healing.
One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my ability to meet clients where they are while helping them recognize their own strengths and potential for growth. With nearly three decades of experience working with children, adults, and families, I bring compassion, patience, and practical guidance to every session. My approach stands out because I believe healing happens when people feel safe, supported, and understood. I combine evidence-based techniques, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and coping skills training, with a personalized approach that recognizes each client's unique experiences, challenges, and goals. For clients who wish to incorporate their faith into the counseling process, I also offer support that integrates spiritual beliefs into therapy. I strive to create a nonjudgmental environment where clients feel empowered to explore challenges, build resilience, and develop the confidence needed to create meaningful and lasting change.
I am best positioned to support children, teens, young adults, and parents who are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-confidence, life transitions, and family challenges. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or uncertain about how to move forward, but are open to receiving support and learning new ways to cope. I also have experience working with mature adults who are well and those who face health issues. I respect the anyone willing to improve one's life regardless of age or circumstances. I work especially well with individuals who are ready to better understand themselves, build resilience, improve relationships, and develop healthier ways of thinking and responding to life's challenges. Whether you're seeking healing from past experiences, support with parenting concerns, or help managing stress and emotions, I strive to create a safe, compassionate environment where you feel heard, supported, and empowered to grow. My goal is to help clients recognize their strengths, build confidence, and develop practical tools that support lasting positive change.

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Together, we identify unhelpful thinking patterns that may contribute to anxiety, depression, or self-doubt and develop healthier ways of thinking and coping. My goal is to help clients feel more empowered and confident in their daily lives.
I provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, valued, and supported. I believe each person is the expert in their own life, and I work collaboratively with clients to build self-awareness, confidence, and resilience while moving toward their goals.
I use a solution-focused approach to help clients identify strengths, clarify goals, and build on what is already working. Together, we focus on practical steps that create meaningful change and help clients move forward with greater confidence and hope.
I recognize the impact trauma can have on emotions, relationships, and daily life. My approach focuses on creating emotional safety, building trust, and supporting clients at a pace that feels comfortable while developing healthy coping skills and promoting healing.
I believe knowledge is empowering. I help clients better understand their emotions, behaviors, and mental health challenges so they can make informed decisions, build coping skills, and feel more confident in managing life's difficulties.
