Even with more than 20 years as a counselor, I continue to be in awe of the strength and resilience I have the privelage of witnessing. Therapy can be difficult at times but I desire to walk alongside and be a supportive presence on your journey. Throughout my career, I have worked in a variety of settings including residential treatment, community mental health, hospitals, EAP (employee assistance program), college and small group practice. I frequently work with clients as they cope with depression, anxiety, stress, life changes, and trauma.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During our first session together, we will talk about the concerns that led you to seek counseling and what you hope to accomplish during our time together. We will talk about the various areas of your life, including work or school, family, support systems, and relevant events in your history. It is my goal to make our time together feel safe and supportive.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

It is important to me that you feel supported and safe during our time together. I hope that you will find me to be empathetic and nonjudegemental. While I can be direct in my approach to problems, I do not assume that I know what is best for you. I prefer to walk alongside you on this journey as you discover what it is that is best for you. I welcome honest feedback about our work together.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

There are many experiences in our lives that can effect how we see ourselves and how we relate to others. Therapy can help us look at the behaviors and messages that have come about as a result of coping with these events. As we explore these events and messages in a curious nonjudgemental manner, we can identify patterns and find healthy ways to cope.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral therapy is helpful in identifying thoughts that can cause you to get stuck in a depressive or anxious spiral. Once identified, we can work together to find more helpful and healthy ways of thinking.

Trauma Informed Care

The traumas we have experienced often affect our ability to feel safe, to trust and to relate to others. I strive to create an environment that helps you to feel safe during sessions.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness therapy concepts can help us explore thoughts and feelings in a non-judgemental manner.

Narrative

Narritive therapy methods can be an empowering way to examine concerns and re-examine how your stories are told.

Strength-Based

Each person possesses strengths that help them to survive. Using those strengths can help us find creative solutions.
