About me

Hi, my name is Isabelle! I am a licensed professional counselor and a registered art therapist. A history of my work experience includes individual and group therapy with children, teens and adults in community mental health, group practices, and therapeutic nursery programs. With my training in art therapy, I support people to explore underlying emotions and personal history through metaphors in art and writing. Seeking therapy is a huge step, and I believe that we all have the potential to thrive when we feel listened to with empathy and care. I would like to provide a warm and culturally sensitive space to support people in strengthening resilience and achieving personal goals. Currently, I am also a doctoral student in a clinical psychology program studying psychodynamic therapy.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In the first session, you would gain a better understanding of what therapy sessions look like while we discuss your concerns, personal history and develop a treatment plan together. Depending on your needs, you could expect to gain further understanding of 1) your thought processes and emotions 2) the impact of your childhood on your adult relationships 3) ways of coping that would continue to benefit your personal goals. Therapy sessions usually come to an end when treatment goals are met or when you feel that it is appropriate to step out of therapy.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Like Carl Rogers said, “People are just as wonderful as sunsets if you let them be. When I look at a sunset, I don't find myself saying, "Soften the orange a bit on the right hand corner." I don't try to control a sunset. I watch with awe as it unfolds.” I enjoy learning about people and the unique worldviews that they developed from their upbringing. Through the use of narrative (whether verbal or visual), we would be able to explore the way you interact with self, others and the world.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

As of right now, I work mostly with young adults and adults who are 18+. However, if you are curious about anything or if you would like to reach out for help, please do not hesitate.
