Marita Allinson
I believe that people have the power to change their lives to make them more positive and fulfilling. I love working with children and parents and am trained in treating trauma in children as young as infants. I also have training in assessing for, diagnosing and treatment ADHD in children. I believe that families are essential to the mental health and emotional development of children and their involvement in treatment is crucial. I am trained in Child Parent Psychotherapy and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I also provide individual play therapy for children. I also work with people ages 15 to 99+. I have successfully treated adults using the Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral framework and use Cognitive Behavioral and Brief Solution Focused therapy to treat a variety of conditions including depression, anxiety, and ADHD. I am trained in the Exposure Response Prevention model of treatment for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder as well. I have experience working with older adults and have personal experience that helps me to identify with them. I have been working in the mental health field for almost 30 years and truly enjoy it.
Strengths
I have had many personal and life experiences that have helped me to identify with my clients. My experience as a mother and grandmother helps me to connect with children, teens, parents and grandparents. I create a safe, calm, non-judgmental and relaxing space in which clients can express themselves openly and fully and explore issues and courses of action that could be helpful.
