My treatment methods

Trauma Informed Care

Over the past 7 years, our practice has become highly proficient in conducting a comprehensive assessment to understand the client's trauma history, symptoms, current functioning, and treatment goals to provide psychoeducation about trauma, its impact on the brain and body, common reactions, and the rationale behind trauma Informed Care. I will work with clients to establish specific and measurable treatment goals that address their trauma-related symptoms and challenges, establishing a safe environment to help clients develop coping strategies to manage distress and establish a sense of safety both in and out of therapy sessions.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) has become my favorite approach. This type of cognitive-behavioral therapy is designed to help individuals who struggle with managing their emotions and interpersonal relationships. Through this model, I will conduct an initial screening to determine if the individual is appropriate for DBT and conduct a comprehensive assessment to understand your emotional dysregulation, behaviors, and treatment goals. Once this is completed, individual therapy is provided weekly and focuses on helping the client learn and apply new coping skills, problem-solving strategies, and ways to manage distress. Phone Coaching is also provided between sessions to help individuals generalize their skills to real-life situations and manage crises effectively. The most effective and attractive aspect of this approach Chain Analysis is where individuals come to understand the triggers, thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that contribute to problematic patterns and identify more adaptive responses.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Let's talk about the Solution.... Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is a goal-oriented, future-focused therapeutic approach that emphasizes identifying and building upon the client's strengths and resources to create positive change by establishing an engaging and collaborative therapeutic relationship with the client, focusing on their strengths, resilience, and goals for change. We will work together to help our clients identify achievable goals they would like to work towards during the course of therapy. This a time to explore times in the client's life when the problem was less severe or absent, identify exceptions to the problem, and help uncover existing strengths and resources. What is your Million Dollar Answer for success?

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a form of psychological treatment that has been demonstrated to be effective for a range of problems including depression, anxiety disorders, alcohol and drug use problems, marital problems, eating disorders, and severe mental illness. Numerous research studies suggest that CBT leads to significant improvement in functioning and quality of life. In many studies, CBT has been demonstrated to be as effective as, or more effective than, other forms of psychological therapy or psychiatric medications.

Christian Counseling

Christian counseling is a broad category of emotional and relationship support that draws on the principles of Christianity to help clients cope with challenges. Because religious faith can play a significant role in an individual’s life, many prospective therapy clients who identify as Christian feel more comfortable seeing a counselor who shares their beliefs or who is at least prepared to discuss their faith openly and without judgment.
