New to Grow
I am licensed in Florida with 8 years of professional work experience. I have experience in helping clients with stress, anxiety, motivation, self-esteem, confidence, depression, & coping with life changes and trauma. I believe that you are the expert of your story and that you have many strengths that will help you in overcoming things that challenge you. Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage. I am here to support you in that process. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness techniques, and am trained on Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Processing Therapy. I believe each person should be treated as an individual and together we can create a safe space that promotes self-growth and inner peace. We are not our thoughts or our past; we are not able to change what happened to us in the past, but we are in control in the present moment.
During our first session, we will talk about what brings you to counseling including what symptoms have been bothersome and complete an intake assessment to help me get to know you better. We will talk about what goals you have for therapy, what you have and have not found helpful in therapy in the past if applicable, and begin establishing rapport. I will provide you with a safe space to open up without fear of judgment and always welcome questions and feedback.
With my years of experience as an LCSW I bring a diverse and tailored approach based on each individual as no two people are the same. My clients often highlight my ability to be present and truly listen in a nonjudgmental way, challenging thoughts and beliefs that have kept them trapped and teaching them ways to overcome them. I work collaboratively with clients in sessions and value feedback if a technique or approach does not work for you or you do not want to try it it's ok we will find something that does work for you.
I am here to support individuals, parents, and seniors that are experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and life transitions. I like working with individuals who are self-motivated and ready for change as well as open minded to new techniques and approaches and that take an active role in their healing journey. I am looking forward to having a collaborative approach and finding solutions to your mental health symptoms. I provide counseling in both English and Spanish, offering a compassionate and culturally affirming space for growth and meaningful change.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT in sessions as it is one of the best studied forms for psychotherapy which is a combination of two approaches, known as cognitive therapy and behavioral therapy. CBT focuses on working on specific current problems and finding solutions for them. CBT helps you become aware of thinking patterns that may be creating issues in your life. During sessions we will be looking at the relationship between thoughts, feelings and how they affect your behavior. Many times, we have irrational thoughts that lead to feelings of depression or anxiety based on past experiences. Often the thoughts we are thinking are not based on truths but on how you were treated in the past by others around you. During session we will be learn how to challenge the thoughts and look at things with more clarity based on facts and learn how respond to them in a more effective way.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
It's a form of psychotherapy that combines cognitive behavioral therapy, meditation and mindfulness to cultivate present oriented, non-judgmental attitude. This approach teaches people to consciously focus on their thoughts and feelings without making judgements. Many people spend most of the time thinking about what the past or worrying about our future incorporating mindfulness into daily life brings about some relief from our thinking brain so we can just be present. Meditation can ground us by bringing us to the present moment, calming the nervous system, and detaching from racing thoughts.
Psychodynamic
I have used psychodynamic therapy in sessions which is an in-depth form of talk therapy that explores how unconscious thoughts and feelings, and past experiences particularly from childhood-shape current behaviors and relationships. This type of therapy has helped a lot of clients with the goal being to identify recurring themes and patterns in their life to gain insight, which can lead to lasting behavior change.
