Working with me is about discovering and building on your core strengths. My therapy setting is a safe place to dream, question, and grow. The reward IS worth the risk. My all time favorite vision quote: "Vision is greater than baggage." (Steven R. Covey) Clients who do especially well in working with me are typically: motivated, follow through with homework assignments, and maintain integrity with me (that is, they don't lie to me). I specialize in supporting you in ensuring that relationships, attitudes and habits focus like a laser beam on the life goal(s) you're seeking. I work a great deal with clients who are wanting/needing to make a significant life transition (career, relationship, etc.) and clients ready to develop a Life Mission that will support their focus on values and goals that matter to them.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Initial 1-2 sessions will be focused on gaining background information and establishing a strength-based treatment plan. Session will focus on establishing treatment, goals, and major red flag issues that need to be addressed, and ensuring that this type of therapy is a good fit for what you want to accomplish. Session also includes an opportunity for client questions to be answered.

The treatment methods and tools I utilize

Strengths-Based Therapy (drawing from both Positive Psychology and Gallup StrengthsFinders) Dialectical Behavior Therapy (a treatment model that grew out of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and includes lots of specific tools in the form of handouts as well as focusing on the power of increasing mindfulness and self-awareness.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Since 1996, I've coached and supported hundreds of leaders, folks challenged with emotional/relational/life challenges, and pre-licensed or licensed clinicians developing their best clinical 'selves'. My ideal client is powerfully motivated, with high integrity and intent, and willing to tolerate the discomfort that sometimes is part of the change process. Some of my favorite current quotes about therapy: “It’s incredibly liberating to spend an hour talking to someone and not caring about what you sound like. It’s about understanding myself. Sometimes I’ll speak to my therapist for an hour a day. It’s become part of my routine.” – Shakira "Positive psychology looks at what is right with people, focuses on when people are at their best and attends to individual and group flourishing."
