Many people know exactly where their patterns come from—but still feel stuck repeating them. My work is helping you bridge the gap between understanding yourself and actually changing your life. I help adults navigate anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, low self-worth, and major life transitions. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based therapy. Sessions focus on understanding patterns, building emotional insight, and developing tools that actually fit your life—not generic coping skills that don’t stick. Therapy with me is not about fixing you—it's about helping you reconnect with your strengths, feel more aligned and secure within yourself, and create meaningful change at a pace that feels right.
The first session is about creating safety and connection. You’re not expected to retell your entire story or revisit anything you’re not ready to discuss. We’ll focus on understanding what you’re experiencing in the present, what feels most pressing, and how therapy can support you. Together, we’ll begin building a foundation that feels steady, respectful, and collaborative.
I bring a calm, attuned presence to therapy that helps clients feel genuinely seen and understood. One of my greatest strengths is my ability to quickly identify patterns beneath the surface—especially those shaped by trauma, attachment experiences, and long-standing coping strategies—while meeting you with warmth and respect. I balance emotional depth with practical guidance, helping clients gain insight while also developing tools they can actually use in daily life. Clients often share that they feel safe opening up, clearer about themselves, and more grounded after our work together.
My ideal clients are adults who appear capable on the outside yet feel anxious, emotionally overwhelmed, or disconnected on the inside. Many carry the effects of past trauma, emotional neglect, or chronic stress that show up in relationship patterns such as difficulty trusting, overgiving, emotional distance, or fear of closeness. Others are navigating major life transitions—changes in relationships, career, identity, or loss—that have disrupted their sense of stability and self-worth. They are thoughtful, self-aware, and ready to engage in meaningful work to better understand themselves, build emotional security, and create healthier relationships and a more grounded, fulfilling life.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
II use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for anxiety, depression, trauma, and addictions. As a CBT therapist, I've witnessed profound transformations in clients. CBT's structured approach empowers individuals to recognize and challenge negative thought patterns contributing to distress. By collaboratively identifying and reframing cognitive distortions, you will gain insight into the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Through gradual exposure to experiences you learn to confront your anxieties and reclaim a sense of control over your life. You will develop adaptive coping strategies and experience a reduction in symptoms in anxiety and depression.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
IFS offers a unique and powerful framework for understanding the internal dynamics of the psyche, viewing individuals as containing multiple "parts" or sub-personalities, each with its own thoughts, feelings, and motivations. Through the process of exploration and dialogue with these parts, clients gain insight into the underlying causes of their symptoms and develop greater self-awareness and self-compassion. By cultivating a compassionate and curious stance towards their inner experiences, clients learn to navigate their internal landscape with greater ease and resilience.
Couples Counseling
I treat couples in counseling by focusing on fostering mutual growth and understanding. You emphasize open communication, emotional support, and collaboration, helping partners navigate conflicts and deepen their connection. Using a combination of art therapy, CBT, and solution-focused approaches, you guide couples toward identifying patterns, improving problem-solving skills, and setting achievable goals for their relationship.
Strength-Based
In therapy, I help clients recognize and build on their existing strengths while addressing the patterns and challenges that hold them back. You’ll learn practical coping skills, healthier habits, and strategies to shift unhelpful thoughts and behaviors. My approach combines insight with action, so you leave each session not just understood, but equipped to make meaningful changes in your life, relationships, and overall well-being.

Since I was 12 years old-so 41 years- I have been in some version of talk therapy. Over the years, I think I started to use defense mechanisms that I honestly don't even realize I am using until i think back. Kara is amazing at keeping me on task. She is smart. She is so insightful. And she can see in me things that I just can't see at times. I have resisted virtual therapy (since the pandemic) because I like the humanity of in person. Honestly, I wouldn't see anyone else-even tho it's virtual!

I’ve been trying to find a counselor I could relate to for a good length of time. I felt “seen” and “heard” in our 1st session.
