Jonathan Seyer

LPC (he/they)1 year of experience

I'm a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and registered art therapist (ATR) who works with individuals navigating depression, trauma, crisis, life transitions, and questions of identity and meaning. I often work with people who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected, and are looking for greater understanding ,balance, and direction. My approach is collaborative and individualized. We work together to find what's helpful, combining practical strategies with room for deeper reflection and personal growth.

First session

In our first session, we'll take time to get to know one another and begin to understand what brings you in.\ There's no right or wrong way to start. My goal is to create a comfortable space, clarify what you'd like to work on, and begin figuring out together what direction feels most helpful.

Strengths

I bring a grounded, direct, and person-centered approach to therapy. I believe effective therapy starts with understanding the individual rather than just treating a collection of symptoms. I meet clients where they are and adapt my approach to what they need, whether that's practical tools, deeper reflection, creative exploration. or simply a space to speak openly without judgment. I value authenticity, trust, and collaboration, and I strive to be fully present with clients as we work toward greater understanding, meaning, and balance.

Ideal clients

My ideal client is someone who may feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of where to go next. They might be navigating depression, trauma, life transitions, or questions about identity or meaning. They don't need to have it all figured out. They just need to be willing to show up and work together towards greater balance and understanding in their lives.

Treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I use a person-centered approach by meeting you where you are, taking time to understand your experiences and what matters to you. Rather than assuming there's one right path, we work together to figure out what's gonna be the most helpful for you. I offer a supportive and non-judgmental space while also being genuine and direct when that's helpful. And as we go, I adapt my style based on what you actually need and on what we discover together.

Trauma-Informed Care

My work is grounded in trauma-informed care, which means I pay attention to how past experiences might be affecting you now. Uh. I focus on safety and choice and collaboration, so that you feel more in control of your own process. I'll check in, I'll move at your pace and I'll adapt as we learn what feels supportive for you.

Psychodynamic

I use a psychodynamic approach to help you explore patterns in your thoughts, emotions, relationships, and experiences. Sometimes, the ways we respond to things today are connected to experiences or patterns from earlier in our lives. Together, we can look at those connections, build a deeper understanding of yourself, and consider what you want to approach differently moving forward.
