Hello, and welcome. My name is Ashley. I am a licensed counselor in North Carolina and Virginia, and I specialize in helping adults improve their sleep through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I). I have been working in the mental health field since 2006 and have supported children, teens, families, and adults since 2021. On the Grow platform, however, I am exclusively providing CBT-I treatment for adults that have insomnia. I focus on providing a safe, private space where you can feel comfortable talking about your sleep challenges and learning practical skills to improve your rest. My approach is rooted in behavioral therapy, CBT-I, and mindfulness, which means we will work together to understand your sleep patterns and build habits that support better sleep over time. It is very important to me that every client is treated with kindness, compassion, and respect throughout our time together. Outside of my work, I value practicing what I encourage others to do. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, walking my dog, and engaging in activities like gardening and cooking. These moments help me stay grounded and connected, and I bring that same mindset into my work with clients.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During our first session, we will spend time getting to know one another and building a foundation for our work together. I will gather information about your current sleep concerns, sleep patterns, and sleep history, as well as relevant medical, mental health, and lifestyle factors that may be affecting your sleep. We will also discuss any previous treatments or strategies you have tried and explore how insomnia is impacting your daily functioning, relationships, mood, and overall quality of life. This comprehensive assessment helps me develop a clear understanding of your unique experiences and identify factors that may be contributing to your sleep difficulties. Together, we will establish realistic, meaningful goals that align with your needs and priorities by the end of the first session. This session is also a chance for you to ask questions and get a feel for how we will work together moving forward.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I have completed specialized training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), the leading evidence-based and non-medication treatment for insomnia. CBT-I is recommended by sleep experts and major medical organizations as a first-line treatment. I focus on teaching practical, evidence-based strategies that can help you improve your sleep in a structured and supportive way. I strive to create a space where you feel respected, heard, and supported. My goal is to work alongside you, offering guidance and tools while helping you build confidence in your ability to improve your sleep.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work best with adults who have been diagnosed with insomnia and are ready to actively engage in treatment. CBT-I is a structured, short-term approach that typically lasts around six sessions, with meetings every other week. This process works best for individuals who are open to making changes to their sleep habits and are committed to the process. If you have tried CBT-I before without success, I welcome the opportunity to work with you and explore a new approach together.
