Hi!! My name is Kendra Patrice Hadley, and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC #14502) in the state of sunny California. I am also the published author of "Mixed Nuts - the Memoir," which chronicles my lived experience with many of the areas I treat, i.e. addiction, depression, trauma, etc.). I have devoted my career to being a well trained and devoted psychotherapist who can help others to rediscover a sense of joy and meaning in their lives.
In our first session, I will set the tone for our therapeutic relationship by providing a warm and inviting space for you to feel comfortable sharing what's on your mind, and - most importantly - what's on your heart. We will examine the link between your past and present circumstances in a deliberate attempt to "uncover, discover, and discard" those behaviors that prevent you from being the best possible version of yourself. Together, we will develop a plan of action to help you achieve SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely) goals that will allow you to step into your full potential.
I am definitely not your typical psychotherapist when it comes to my communication style and delivery. I am a native of Chicago, IL, and pride myself on being an educated "around-the-way" girl with a blend of professional competence and person-centered compassion. I utilize my active listening skills to engage with my clients in a way that is raw, reflective, and genuine. The tone I set for my sessions is one of unconditional positive regard fostered with warmth, empathy, and relatability. The response to my unconventional and unique clinical approach tends to be quite favorable.
I work primarily with a culturally diverse population of adolescents and adults who struggle with a variety of habits and hang-ups, i.e. drug and alcohol addiction, process addiction (i.e. sex, gaming, etc.), and more. I provide trauma-informed mental health services to people of all ages and demographics and specialize in couples counseling for those in monogamous and non-monogamous partnerships.
Kendra Hadley offers therapy covered by CalViva Health (Medi-Cal), Central California Alliance for Health (Medi-Cal), Community Health Plan of Imperial Valley (Medi-Cal), Gold Coast Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Health Net (Medi-Cal), Health Plan of San Joaquin - Medi-Cal, L.A. Care Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Orange County Mental Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Partnership HealthPlan of California (Medi-Cal) and San Francisco Health Plan (Medi-Cal) in California.
Simply put, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) promotes the acceptance of intrusive thoughts and the commitment to changing the narrative. I utilize various interventions from this theoretical model as an agent for challenging maladaptive thought patterns.
I have been treating couples for the past six years and find immense joy in helping partners to reconnect with each other and overcome obstacles that prohibit true intimacy within the relationship.
I am proud to work with individuals with multi-ethnic backgrounds, as I am a product of an interracial union myself. I connect on a personal level with people of mixed heritage, and the unique set of challenges that are specific to our population.
I specialize in providing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as an evidence-based method to challenge distorted thought patterns that manifest in maladaptive behaviors.
I am a member of the BIPOC and LGBTQ communities, which allows me to utilize a person-centered, compassionate approach when working with individuals of diverse cultures and communities.
