LMFT, 10 years of experience
New to Grow
Hi there! I am Michelle Pack, LMFT. I have been a licensed marriage/family therapist since 2015 and I'm happy to be here to help in any way I can. I have always had the desire to help others, even from a young age, and my favorite part about it is seeing the growth individuals, couples and families are able to make when they commit to making changes. I believe the role of the therapist (my role) is to be a guide, coming alongside you in the journey you're already on - adding support, knowledge, and guidance along the way.
During our first session, I will learn what is bringing you to therapy and how it has impacted you so far. I appreciate that finding a therapist can often be a very difficult task, and I also want to make sure that you feel we are a good fit. I want to learn from you, but I also want you to feel comfortable with me. Please know that I have spent time on the other side of the chair, so to speak, and I keep that in mind when meeting clients for the first time. I don't take it for granted!
I have years of experience working in the foster care system, helping support foster parents, adoptive parents, and children who have found themselves involved in the system. There are so many issues that are connected to the fostering/adoption world, and if you're struggling, I know I can provide support. I also work in a public school system and can help navigate that world. I would say I have the most experience working with those who have anxiety and/or ADHD, or have someone in their family who does.
I am a logical thinker but also in-tune with emotions. I believe the best way to help someone is to use a combined approach of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy to help people see the changes they want in their lives. If you are struggling with anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts, parenting stress, or trauma, let's take a look at how your thoughts are contributing to these difficulties and find other ways to process what's going on.
I have used CBT as my preferred treatment method since finishing graduate school and beginning internship in 2007. I find it to be the most effective in changing negative thought patterns that lead to negative feelings and clients feeling “stuck.”
I have been a Christian since age 8 and actively involved in church for many years.
