Charlotte Collis
I’ve been working as a therapist for over four years, primarily supporting children, teens, and young adults who have experienced trauma. I specialize in post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and have extensive experience working with survivors of abuse, individuals, and families navigating difficult experiences. I earned my Master of Social Work (MSW) from Simmons School of Social Work, where I completed a concentration in trauma treatment. I’m nationally certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), certified in Problematic Sexual Behavior–Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (PSB-CBT) for children ages 7–12, and trained in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). I especially enjoy working with teens and helping strengthen caregiver-child relationships. My goal is to create a comfortable, supportive space where clients feel understood, build practical skills, and work toward meaningful change.
I like to find a good balance between structured discussions and activities and more open-ended conversations, depending on what each client needs. I'm excited to work with you!
First session
I hope clients leave their first session feeling heard, safe, and comfortable being themselves. I also want them to get a sense of my personality and what sessions with me might look like. We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, what you’re hoping to get out of it, and what you’d like to work toward. I believe therapy is a collaborative process, and I want clients to feel like we’re working together every step of the way. Most of all, I hope you leave feeling hopeful and excited about what we can accomplish together!
Strengths
I have a calm, laid-back approach and try to create a space where clients feel comfortable being themselves. I like to find a good balance between structured discussions and activities and more open-ended conversations, depending on what each client needs. I’m big on meeting clients where they are, whether that means listening and validating their experiences or gently challenging them when needed. I also really value collaboration and believe in working together to set meaningful goals and make the most of our time in session. I want clients to feel heard and supported while also feeling like they’re making progress toward the things that matter to them.
Ideal clients
I have extensive experience working with children, but I especially enjoy working with teens and young adults. I love helping clients navigate life transitions, build self-esteem, and manage anxiety and depression. I especially enjoy working with teens who may be quiet, reserved, or unsure about therapy at first and watching them grow in confidence, open up, and develop skills they can use in everyday life. I find it really rewarding to help teens feel comfortable being themselves and discover their strengths along the way.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT to help clients recognize and challenge negative thought patterns, better understand their emotions, and develop practical skills to manage life’s challenges. I love how applicable CBT is to everyday life, and I use many of the skills in my own life as well! I enjoy helping clients find tools that work for them and learn how to apply those skills outside of our sessions.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I use DBT to help clients build practical skills in mindfulness, relaxation, and emotional regulation. I enjoy teaching clients ways to better understand and manage their emotions, cope with stress, and navigate difficult situations in healthier ways.
Trauma-Focused CBT
I am nationally certified in TF-CBT. I use it to help clients process and heal from traumatic experiences while reducing symptoms associated with PTSD. I focus on helping clients feel safe, develop healthy coping skills, work through difficult emotions, and build a greater sense of confidence and control in their lives.
