Hi, I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Georgia. I am currently licensed in Georgia, Utah & Nevada. I received my Masters degree from the University of Georgia and have been practicing now for over 20 years in mental health settings ranging from child and adolescent to aging issues.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

A first session is more of an assessment than therapy, it is mostly for introductions, getting to know a client as a whole person, identifying strengths as well as challenges and treatment goals. Building the framework for ongoing treatment and also to help determine if the therapeutic match feels like a good fit.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I've often been told that in addition to therapy strengths that I'm a good listener and that I often quickly help a client feel comfortable with the therapy process. My goal is to create and maintain a safe space to be able to process thoughts and feelings while developing coping skills and strategies for whatever problems you're facing.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Use CBT to focus on the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. CBT helps to identify and modify negative thought patterns and behaviors contributing to emotional distress or dysfunctional actions.

Faith based therapy

If desired by client counseling can include client faith and spiritual beliefs, acknowledging the role of faith and spirituality in the therapeutic process and in a clients life. Though this is optional depending on client preference.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Have used DBT which combines acceptance and change strategies with an emphasis on mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotion regulation, and distress tolerance. Often use it to help with managing strong or difficult emotions.

Grief Therapy

When dealing with significant loss can utilize grief therapy to help clients cope with the emotional challenges of loss. Key aspects include understanding the grieving process, expressing emotions in a supportive environment, developing coping strategies, navigating ones own unique path in dealing with grief and working towards finding meaning in the loss and reach acceptance.

Motivational Interviewing

I use Motivational Interviewing as a client-centered approach, to help guide and facilitate exploration of motivation for change. Use flexibility, empathy, and collaboration to work together to help identify and resolve obstacles to behavior change.
