Welcome to my profile. If you are looking for someone to listen to your needs and take the time to understand you and your situation, you have found the right provider who can actually help you. I have been practicing as a General Physician in Dhaka, Bangladesh since 1984, until I relocated to the USA in 2005. I became a certified Family Nurse Practitioner after receiving a Master’s degree from Kennesaw State University, GA. I worked with several psychiatrists and completed another Master's degree from the University of Cincinnati, OH to become a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I am a dedicated mental health provider for patients across the lifespan. I am absolutely committed to serving a diverse population by evaluating and treating them in a holistic manner. I enjoy spending time with my family, reading books, listening to classical music, and watching movies. I am also passionate about traveling to different countries, trying new kinds of foods, and love to get to know people from different cultures and backgrounds. I treat patients of all ages and have experience in treating anxiety, depression, mood disorders, substance use disorders, psychosis/schizophrenia, medication management, obsessive-compulsive disorder, relationship issues, self-esteem problems, grief, stress, sleep disorders, trauma, PTSD, and impulse-control disorders.
I offer a warm, comfortable, non-judgmental, and accommodating environment to make the patients feel secure in expressing their concerns transparently. After the initial evaluation, my treatment plan includes therapy, behavioral interventions, and medications if essential. I consider and encourage my patients to participate in discussions about their different feelings and triggers, family, social, occupational, cultural, and spiritual issues during the decision-making process.
The primary step of treatment is a thorough evaluation of medical, mental health, and overall lifestyle history, as well as the patient’s present concerns. I aim to guide the patient to describe the issues in a meaningful way, which will be helpful to diagnose more accurately. A rational approach for prescribing medications and psychotherapy would be explained to the patient. An opportunity to choose different options for treatment will increase compliance and ultimately benefit the patient. Patients will be encouraged to maintain medication management, improve understanding, and know how to enhance coping skills and self-awareness. My patients are always empowered to enhance their strength and courage to improve their quality of life to achieve their full potential.
I have been a prescriber for more than three decades, with a wide range of experience in medical, drug addiction and mental health issues. I have an absolute determination to deliver high-quality mental health care that is affordable and accessible to all members of the community. I am mindful of the dignity of my patients and respectful of one's gender, sexual orientation, as well as family and cultural values. All my endeavors will be focused on the successful treatment of my patients and to bring back them to their superior level of functioning. It is profoundly a personal pledge.
