I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker doing tele-therapy in the state of Arizona. I work with individuals, couples and families to help them them enhance their existing strengths and develop new skills in order to overcome the obstacles they face in their emotional health. I believe that every individual has the resources to improve their lives and it is the therapist’s job to help them access those resources.
During the first appointment, we will get to know one another and make sure you feel comfortable. Then, together we'll work to establish your individualized goals and determine the optimal approach to achieve these goals. Depending on your needs, we may utilize a brief solution-focused course of treatment tailored to address specific needs or a longer-term, deeper exploration of longstanding issues to attain lasting personal growth.
Despite my 30+ years of practice, i am very aware that each person is an individual and I approach each client that way. I view therapy as a team project for the client and the provider so maintaining a mutual trust is very important. I often use hypothetical situations and humor when it is appropriate.
Help clients accept their uncomfortable thoughts and feelings in order to address them and develop appropriate ways to cope with them
I use CBT to identify and challenge a client's unfounded beliefs that are hindering their well-being
I help couples identify core problems in the relationship so the can develop skills that will help them arrive at resolution. I also help couples improve their communication, using various techniques widely used by prominent couples' counselors.
i ask questions about pt's culture and use their cultural norms to help them understand some of their thoughts, feelings and relationships since culture influences our thoughts, emotions and actions.
I've realized that there is no treatment model that fits every situation, so I take an eclectic approach, tailoring treatment to fit each client. In addition to the above, I use Solution-Focused Therapy, Family Systems Theory, Insight-Oriented Therapy, Gestalt and other techniques when appropriate.
