Are you a woman looking for additional support with your life issues and the impact they have on your mental health? I take pride in supporting women through their journeys in therapy by lifting them up, and encouraging them as they find practical ways to navigate obstacles in life. I am passionate about and trained to work with and support pregnant/new moms experiencing perinatal mood disorders, women raising children with special needs, as well as individuals who have experienced trauma. Many of my clients find themselves in therapy to work on decision-making, setting healthy boundaries, self-esteem, and navigating new and complex relationships.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together I will gather information about the issues that bring you to therapy and the outcomes you would like to see in your life circumstances to know that our time together in therapy was successful.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My treatment methods

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

In SFBT, we will work together to identify your goals and explore what a future without the current problem or issue would look like for you. We will then focus on identifying any exceptions or times when the problem is less severe or not present, in order to uncover your existing strengths and resources that can help you move towards your desired outcome. During sessions, we will explore small, achievable steps that you can take to move closer to your goals, and we will celebrate your successes along the way. SFBT is typically a short-term therapy approach that is focused on creating change quickly and efficiently.

Psychoeducation

Psychoeducation is an important aspect of therapy that involves providing information and education about mental health conditions, symptoms, treatment options, and coping strategies. It aims to help you better understand your own mental health and empower you to actively participate in your treatment and recovery. During psychoeducation, we will discuss the nature of your mental health condition, its causes, and how it may be impacting your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. We will also explore various treatment options available to you, such as therapy, medication, lifestyle changes, and self-care practices. In addition, psychoeducation may involve teaching you specific skills and strategies to help you better manage your symptoms and improve your overall well-being. This may include stress management techniques, communication skills, problem-solving skills, and strategies for coping with difficult emotions.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

We will work together to identify and challenge any negative thoughts or beliefs that you may have about yourself, others, or the world. We will also work on developing more positive and helpful ways of thinking. Additionally, we will work on identifying and changing any unhelpful behaviors that may be contributing to your difficulties. This may involve learning new coping skills, practicing relaxation techniques, or gradually facing feared situations in order to overcome them.
