Welcome to my profile! My name is Roser and I work as a Psychotherapist. I received my master's degree in Counseling Psychology (Somatics) from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, and I have been practicing for 17 years as a Marriage and Family Therapist. Previously, I also completed another master's degree in Clinical Psychology that I studied in Spain. I am also a bicultural and bilingual Spanish speaking therapist, and I love to help individuals who are struggling with different life's stressors to help them to become a better version of themselves. Developing my career, I have used my skills and competencies in various settings including mental health clinics, schools, hospitals and residential treatment settings. I mostly have worked with children, families (including couples) and adults struggling with mood, anxiety, personality and psychotic disorders. From time to time, we all can feel out of balance with much uncertainty, while dealing with life's transitions, unexpected disappointments, and carrying personal traumas that caused a real impact on how we feel and experience the world. In this case, it can be very difficult to navigate life’s challenges on our own. Together, we can figure out a better way forward. "Growth occurs when individuals confront problems, struggle to master them and through that struggle develop new aspects of their skills capacities and views about life." ~ Carl Rogers, Humanistic Psychologist.
In our first session together, we will start with brief introductions and then dive into the current specific challenges that you are facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in the following sessions that will reflect your stated needs, desires and personal goals. I will also share with you some housekeeping about privacy, confidentiality, and cancellation policies; and you will also have the opportunity to ask any questions about the therapeutic process and share any previous experiences you might had. Clients can expect to feel heard, validated, and supported as we begin our therapeutic journey together.
By having worked with different clients for the past 17 years, I achieved a very diverse professional experience. I am able to help my clients going deep into themselves, addressing the root cause of their problems and challenges, helping them in a few sessions to notice progress. Overtime, when the relationship deepens and evolves, therapy helps my clients to change completely their narratives and evolve to new versions of themselves in order to create a more fulfilling life. As a provider, my greatest strengths lie in my ability to cultivate a non-judgmental therapeutic space where clients feel safe and seen to explore their conflicts, childhood wounds and vulnerabilities. In working together, I utilize various therapy techniques to assist them overtime in creating an overall healthier and more conscious living. In this case, I can help you identify problematic behaviors and provide you with healthier alternative ways to enhance your mental, emotional and physical wellness. I mostly hope to inspire your creative and innate resources, assisting you in developing a stronger sense of self-acceptance and self-knowledge that will promote healing. And this healing, will assist you in improving your self-esteem to have a much better autonomy in life, a greater sense of fulfillment, and healthier coping skills. My strengths are formed from both, my professional and personal life experiences. My focus is on the collaborative therapeutic relationship to navigate complex problem-solving, providing you with psychoeducation, as well as spiritual guidance as/if needed. I emphasize going at your own pace while promoting your self-care. I also possess great empathic skills, comprehension of human suffering and a true desire of being in service.
It's my life's passion working with my clients to help them tap into their true potential and enhance their personal growth. My clients are eager to improve themselves and I am equipped to give them tools needed to make this goal a reality. They often might feel stuck, depressed, overwhelmed and/or anxious about their lives, careers or they might be dealing with conflict in their relationships, needing psychological and emotional support to resolve difficult dynamics. Please, note that at this time, I am not working with children, couples or families, but I bring my knowledge of my previous work that can be of help to understand family, child or couple's dynamics that you might be experiencing. My therapeutic approach is grounded in mindfulness, compassion, curiosity, and respect. Clients describe my approach as warm, relational, collaborative, strengths-based, and trauma-informed.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
With acceptance and commitment therapy, clients learn with mindful methods to accept their inner emotions, negative thoughts and symptoms caused by hardships, and commit to healthy and constructive activities to uphold their values and goals, making the required changes in their behavior to move forward in their lives. It integrates principles from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness strategies to enhance psychological flexibility, which is the ability to accept negative experiences while pursuing meaningful life goals
Compassion Focused
Compassion-focused therapy (CFT) is a therapeutic approach that aims to help those who struggle with shame and self-criticism, often resulting from early experiences of abuse or neglect. Benefits of CFT can lead to improved emotional well-being, reduced feelings of shame, and enhanced resilience against distress. By cultivating compassion, individuals may experience greater self-acceptance and improved interpersonal relationships. CFT can be effective for a variety of psychological issues, including: Anxiety Disorders, Mood Disorders, Personality Disorders and Eating Disorders, addressing issues related to body image and self-acceptance through compassionate practices.
Culturally Sensitive Therapy
Culturally sensitive therapy is a type of psychotherapy that respects and accommodates the client’s cultural background and identity. As bicultural and bilingual therapist myself, understanding my client’s race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or any other cultural element that influences their beliefs, values, and attitudes is for me key to help my clients feel understood, accepted, and comfortable.
Mind-body approach
As needed, I work with my clients somatically paying attention to their body language and body signals. A mind-body approach is a holistic way of healing that acknowledges the interconnectedness of our mental, emotional, and physical aspects. It focuses on understanding and nurturing the relationship between the mind and body to promote relaxation, self-awareness, and mindfulness. In this case, I specialized in Somatics when coursing my Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology, and my clients often opt to work somatically in order to help integrate the content that emerges in sessions. Outside client's work to practice certain body-mind techniques apply as well in order to enhance the therapeutic work.
Transpersonal
I also bring a Transpersonal, Spiritual and Jungian (psychoanalytic orientation) approach to therapy for us to pay attention to the unconscious and the soul through dreams and synchronicities. I often draw from concepts rooted in depth psychology, Eastern psychology, contemplative and mystical traditions, emphasizing the integration of the conscious and unconscious mind, exploring archetypes, individuation, and the collective unconscious to promote personal growth and self-understanding.

This provider frequently forgot my name, talked down to me about being a couple of minutes late because of my child. In actual therapeutic conversations, she was generally kind but I didn't want to continue with her

Roser has been a steady, supportive presence in my life. She gently challenges me to look beyond the surface of my thoughts and recognize the deeper patterns and messages behind them. When I went through a transition in insurance, Roser was incredibly patient and flexible. That kind of support made a real difference during a time of uncertainty. I always leave our sessions feeling more grounded and less alone. She brings clarity when things feel confusing and offers hope when I’m struggling.

Although I have only just begun my healing journey, Roser seems to understand what I need. She is thoughtful and kind, and I have faith that she can provide me with the guidance and skills that will allow me to effectively uncover and change limiting beliefs and perceptions, so that I can finally heal.
