Here you can breathe, you can pinpoint and work through the trouble spots, and you can learn new tools to handle these overwhelming emotions that keep nagging at you in your day to day. Here, you can find guidance to get back on your feet and moving in the right direction. Whether it is a new life event, anxiety or depression symptoms overwhelming you, things from your past resurfacing, or another difficult conversation that drew you to therapy, welcome.
Many people report feeling both nervous and excited to begin therapy. Our first session is the most guided session of counseling as we create a snapshot of what your life looks like right now, and where the pain points are. We discuss what is drawing you into therapy and work our exactly what your hopes and goals are for therapy. Questions will center on getting a map of life as it is, with your current relationships, habits, and struggles, and also on past impacts.
Often clients report that they feel comfortable and heard during our sessions. They state that I am easy to talk to and they see progress after they meet with me. Having extensive counseling experience, I use my range of knowledge to tailor goals to meet your specific needs and focus on your unique recovery.
Therapy offers a calm, peaceful space where you can work out the knots, the trouble spots of life. A knowledgeable listening ear and comfortable therapeutic relationship can make all the difference in your experience with therapy. Therapeutic interventions can range from the practical application of skills to better manage your emotions, working through stuck thought patterns, or creating healthy thriving relationships. If requested by the client, Christian faith-based counsel and discussion focuses on the strengths and hope provided through their beliefs and the Christian Disciplines.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy, or DBT, provides clear, practical strategies for learning to better regulate your emotions. My clients have found success with adding coping skills to their toolbelts, reworking stuck frameworks, and tangible exercises to use between sessions.
Cognitive Behavior Therapy, or CBT, is a well proven set of therapeutic strategies. This method is designed to work on both our behaviors and thought processes that keep us feeling stuck and contribute to mental health symptoms. CBT can address a wide range of mental health needs including anxiety, depression, relational issues, and perfectionism.
Christian faith has been a component of my counseling since day 1. As a Christian myself, clients can be assured that every therapeutic intervention is not only evidence-based, but aligns with the truth of their faith.
