New to Grow
Hi, I'm Mikaela! I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who specializes in supporting adult women and teens navigating anxiety, eating disorders, and the emotional effects of early life experiences. My approach is warm, relational, and body-informed. I incorporate EMDR and Brainspotting to help clients access and release deeper emotional blocks held in the nervous system. I strive to create a safe, compassionate space where you can feel truly seen and supported as you move toward healing, self-trust, and lasting change!
Our first session is all about getting to know you in a way that feels safe, supportive, and at your pace. I’ll start by sharing a bit about how I work and reviewing confidentiality and what to expect from the therapy process. From there, I’ll invite you to share what brings you in and what you’re hoping to get out of our time together—there’s no pressure to have it all figured out. I ask thoughtful, open-ended questions to help us understand your current challenges, personal history, and strengths. It's the beginning of a collaborative relationship where we work together to explore your needs and set meaningful goals for therapy.
My approach to care is relational, collaborative, and tailored to each client’s unique needs. I believe healing happens in safe, supportive relationships, and I strive to create a warm and nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts and emotions with honesty and self-compassion. I draw from evidence-based practices such as mindfulness, attachment-based work, and emotion-focused approaches, while always honoring your pace and personal goals. Whether we’re working through anxiety, life transitions, or deeper identity work, my focus is on helping you build insight, emotional resilience, and a stronger connection to yourself. My communication style is warm, compassionate, and collaborative. I strive to create a safe and supportive space where clients feel comfortable being themselves, whether that means sharing openly, sitting in silence, or gently exploring difficult emotions. I aim to be both validating and honest, offering reflection and gentle challenge when it’s helpful for growth. I adapt my tone to meet each client’s needs, whether that's being playful and creative with children, down-to-earth and relatable with teens, or calm and attuned with adults navigating complex emotions. I approach treatment with curiosity, empathy, and respect, always working to build a relationship grounded in trust, authenticity, and emotional safety.
I specialize in working with adult women and teens who are navigating anxiety, life transitions, relational challenges, and self-esteem issues. My ideal clients are often highly sensitive, insightful individuals who feel overwhelmed by their emotions, struggle with self-doubt, or find themselves stuck in patterns of perfectionism, people-pleasing, or overthinking. I also support clients experiencing grief, identity exploration, and the long-term impacts of childhood emotional neglect.
I use an attachment-based approach to help clients understand how early relationships have shaped their current patterns in relationships, emotional regulation, and self-worth. Together, we identify attachment wounds, explore how they show up in present-day experiences, and develop healthier ways of relating to both themselves and others. My goal is to help clients build greater internal security, strengthen relationships, and feel more confident navigating connection and vulnerability.
I use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help clients process distressing memories and experiences that continue to impact their present-day lives. EMDR supports the brain's natural healing process, reducing the emotional intensity of traumatic memories while helping clients develop healthier, more adaptive beliefs about themselves. This approach is effective for trauma, anxiety, negative self-beliefs, and other symptoms rooted in unresolved experiences.
I use Brainspotting (BSP) to help clients access and process deeply held emotional experiences that may be difficult to reach through talk therapy alone. By identifying eye positions connected to unresolved trauma or emotional activation, BSP allows the brain and body to naturally process and release stored distress. This gentle, brain-body approach can be especially helpful for trauma, anxiety, grief, and emotional regulation.
