Ashly Langley
With over a decade of experience in clinical social work and mental health, I bring a compassionate, genuine, and direct approach to therapy. I believe in creating a safe, judgment-free space where clients feel comfortable showing up as their authentic selves. I understand that life can be challenging, and sometimes we all need support navigating the experiences, struggles, and unexpected turns that come our way. My approach is open, honest, and collaborative. I believe in meeting people where they are while also challenging them to recognize their potential, break unhealthy patterns, and move toward meaningful change. My own life experiences have shaped my perspective, strengthened my empathy, and deepened my understanding of the importance of feeling heard, understood, and supported.
I understand that life can be challenging, and sometimes we all need support navigating the experiences, struggles, and unexpected turns that come our way.
I believe therapy is about more than simply talking about problems—it’s about gaining perspective, discovering your strengths, and finding the courage to create a life that feels more fulfilling. You don’t have to have it all figured out to take the first step.
First session
During our first session, I encourage clients to share as much information about themselves and their experiences as they feel comfortable sharing. This allows me to gain a better understanding of their current level of functioning, personal history, strengths, and areas where they may be experiencing challenges. I also want to understand their bigger-picture goals and what they hope to gain from the therapeutic process. Establishing this foundation helps us develop a collaborative approach to treatment that is individualized, meaningful, and aligned with their personal goals. I recognize that building trust takes time, and clients are never expected to share more than they are comfortable with.
Strengths
My personal experiences and the challenges I have encountered throughout life have shaped my ability to approach others with empathy, compassion, and understanding. These experiences have strengthened my commitment to meeting individuals where they are while also encouraging personal growth, self-awareness, and positive change. I strive to balance empathy with accountability, empowering clients to recognize their strengths, overcome barriers, and reach their fullest potential.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is someone who is ready to explore their experiences, gain a deeper understanding of themselves, and work toward meaningful personal growth. I enjoy working with individuals who may be navigating anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, relationship challenges, life transitions, or difficulties recognizing their own worth and potential. My approach is rooted in meeting clients where they are, providing a safe and supportive environment, and offering both compassion and gentle accountability. I believe therapy is a collaborative process, and I value working with individuals who are open to self-reflection, willing to challenge old patterns, and committed to becoming healthier, more confident versions of themselves. Most importantly, I want clients to know they do not have to have everything figured out to begin their journey toward healing.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based therapeutic approach that helps clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. As a therapist, I use CBT to help clients identify unhelpful thinking patterns, recognize how those patterns influence their emotional responses, and develop healthier ways of coping with life's challenges.
Motivational Interviewing
I will use Motivational Interviewing as a way to help clients identify their own desire and motivation for change rather than telling them what they need to do. During sessions, I will use open-ended questions, reflective listening, affirmations, and thoughtful discussion to help clients explore their feelings, recognize patterns that may be keeping them stuck, and identify discrepancies between where they are and where they want to be. I will encourage clients to explore both the benefits and challenges of making changes while helping them recognize their strengths and abilities. As clients begin identifying their own reasons for change, I will work collaboratively with them to establish realistic goals, address barriers, and develop actionable steps toward progress. My intention is to provide encouragement and accountability while allowing clients to take ownership of their decisions and personal growth.
Supportive
Supportive Therapy is a therapeutic approach I will use that is focused on helping clients manage emotional distress, improve coping skills, strengthen self-esteem, and navigate difficult life circumstances. It emphasizes providing a safe, encouraging, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, understood, validated, and supported.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I will incorporate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) into my therapeutic approach by helping clients develop healthier ways of responding to difficult thoughts, emotions, and life experiences. I will encourage clients to recognize and accept uncomfortable feelings rather than avoiding or suppressing them, while teaching them that their thoughts do not have to dictate their actions.
