I have been working with clients for 18 years as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I specialize with those coping with PTSD, Childhood Trauma as well as Unresolved Grief and Loss. With this expertise, I also address cooccurring disorders, mood disorders, personality disorders, intimacy issues and addictions of all kinds. My trauma informed approach has assisted clients recognize the process of what is working to elicit change. My expertise has been utilized in various settings and amongst diverse populations. I have co-facilitated trauma intensives including A Hero’s Journey and The Path to Healing. I am clinically trained in Pia Melody’s Post Induction Therapy (PIT) as well as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I have a deep passion for this work and respect the therapeutic relationship.
Let me help you through this. EMDR therapy is a safe, proven method for targeting and resolving the roots of your distress. Using gentle bilateral stimulation, we’ll activate a healing process in your brain similar to REM sleep. This lets your nervous system reprocess painful memories so they no longer have a hold over you. Unlike traditional therapy, EMDR doesn’t require you to relive the disturbing events in detail endlessly. Simply sit back, relax, and let the brain’s natural healing power do its work.
Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy is a trauma informed approach to therapy that has recently gained recognition for its unique perspective on the human mind. IFS is grounded in the belief that the mind is not a single entity, but is composed of various sub-personalities, or “parts.” These parts may have conflicting emotions, desires, or roles, and contribute to a person’s overall well-being. IFS is used to help people heal their inner wounds. In IFS therapy sessions, I guide my client to help them access the Self. The overall goal is to connect the Self with the parts so that the parts start to feel seen and safe enough to release emotional build up.
Trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) is a type of psychotherapy for clients who have experienced a traumatic event or series of traumatic events. When it is helpful, a person’s thoughts and behaviors help them effectively manage their feelings in a healthy way. When it is unhelpful, someone may not know how to manage their feelings, have distorted beliefs, or engage in harmful behaviors as a way of coping. TF-CBT adapts these principles specifically to trauma, which is an emotional and physical response to a shocking or dangerous event. This could be a single incident, multiple incidents, or an ongoing experience.
