Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In the first session, clients can expect a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where we will discuss their mental health concerns, medical and psychiatric history, current symptoms, and treatment goals. I will conduct a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, which includes assessing mood, cognition, trauma history (if applicable), and any past treatments. We will also explore potential medication options (if needed), discuss risks and benefits, and collaborate on a personalized treatment plan. My goal is to ensure clients feel heard, validated, and empowered in their mental health journey.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My greatest strengths as a psychiatric provider include a trauma-informed, patient-centered approach, strong clinical judgment in medication management, and the ability to build trusting therapeutic relationships. I prioritize active listening, empathy, and shared decision-making, ensuring that patients feel heard and empowered in their treatment. Additionally, my background in advanced practice nursing and psychiatry allows me to integrate holistic care with evidence-based pharmacological interventions, tailoring treatment to each individual’s unique needs.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am best positioned to serve adults experiencing anxiety, depression, PTSD, and other trauma-related disorders, as well as those navigating medication management for complex psychiatric conditions. With a trauma-informed, holistic approach, I work well with individuals, particularly women, who seek collaborative, patient-centered care, especially those who may have had difficult experiences with mental health treatment in the past. My background in advanced practice psychiatric nursing allows me to support clients needing a balance of medication management and compassionate, evidence-based care.

My treatment methods

Trauma Informed Care

My experience with Trauma Informed Care (TIC) in psychiatry involves recognizing and addressing the profound impact of trauma on mental health while fostering a sense of safety, empowerment, and collaboration in treatment. TIC is a framework that guides my approach to psychiatric medication management by ensuring that interventions are sensitive to a patient’s past experiences and do not inadvertently retraumatize them. In my practice, I integrate TIC by: - Establishing trust and rapport to create a safe therapeutic environment. - Using shared decision-making when discussing medication options, considering patient preferences and concerns. - Recognizing the neurobiological impact of trauma on mental health disorders and tailoring medication choices accordingly (e.g., selecting medications that minimize dissociation, hyperarousal, or emotional numbing). - Monitoring for medication adherence and side effects, particularly in patients with a history of trauma, who may have heightened sensitivity to physiological changes. - Collaborating with therapists and other providers to ensure a holistic, person-centered approach to care. Lastly, by applying TIC principals in medication management, I strive to empower patients, enhance treatment outcomes, and foster resilience in their mental health journey.
