I welcome working with people who realize they are having certain difficulties navigating life. That awareness is the most important first step that we revisit throughout therapy. My specialty is helping those having difficulties with their own emotions, relationships or dealing with other peoples actions, particularly as a result of trauma, or being newly sober, or because of a chronic physical or mental illness, I welcome you to not hesitate to reach out.
In the first session is primarily dedicated to me listening to you share why you want therapy. We get to know each other a bit, sharing some history. And I let you know about my background, why I love therapy, how I work and how we can get to where you want to be.
Before formalizing my clinical degree I studied and taught yoga, Eastern philosophy and practices for over 35 years as part of my own healing process. At the same time and in conjunction with learning principles of holistic psychotherapy, I have also been steeped in twelve step work, a brilliant model to help anyone recover from their suffering. Of course I also studied and practice Evidence based western therapies such as CBT, Schema Therapy, DBT and EMDR.Every client will get an individual treatment plan that uses the best from a full spectrum of interventions to treat their issues.
If you are have a desire for expanding your awareness to experience the natural peace that resides with you and are willing to open your heart, be honest and grow toward acceptance, no matter how difficult, then you are in a great position to heal and experience a full life and lasting serenity.
Schema therapy is very good at shedding light on hidden meanings and motivations behind our undesirable thought and behavioral patterns.
DBT is a an excellent therapy used to help us how to mindfully address overwhelming emotions and distress.
EMDR is a technique used to calm and integrate disturbing responses to traumatic memories
Learning how your nervous system works is an important step in understanding and detangling from difficult relationships, and the first step in having a great relationship with yourself!
