Hello! I am Cheryl Wooten (she/her/hers). I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Nationally Board Certified and Prepare/Enrich Certified in Summerville, SC. I have spent 25+ years in corporate environments, coaching and counseling business owners and for 3+ years, I have counseled, taught and coached children, youth, and adults. I have also been given the privilege of providing pre-marital counseling to couples and would like to continue to assist couples during this phase of their relationship. I am excited to provide individual counseling in the area of women's issues, including but not limited to: esteem, aging, spiritual/faith integration, emotional awareness and wellness surrounding perimenopause/menopause and post menopause, career and life transitions, singleness, separation, recovery from relational trauma, including divorce recovery, betrayal, grief and loss.

First session

In our first session, we will begin to get acquainted, dispel any myths about counseling and discuss the client's reason for taking this first step toward initiating the counseling relationship . We will and initiate the formation of a partnership in counseling if the client desires.

Strengths

I will hold space for and partner with clients in a nonjudgmental way. In this space, we will discover what makes the client uniquely themselves, strengths and opportunities for growth. In this partnership, it is important that we both work to help the client more effectively manage their life and fulfill their goals, leading to a healthy, full life.

Ideal clients

My ideal client is one who is ready to make a healthy change or who simply needs to manage and/or recover from a life event. That client will be willing to partner with me to help achieve their goals and/or recover from life events, leading to a more healthy and fulfilling life. It is important that this client comes to the counseling relationship willing to put in the work necessary for change and/or recovery which often includes homework outside of the counseling session.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as a form of therapy which connects the client's thoughts and feelings to behaviors in an effort to help the client recognize and change unhelpful behavior.
